well, that slow converter seem to work, but takes indeed a really long time (440 frames more than an hour).
i got switchblade2 / avi2roq.exe working using uncompressed avi, but takes long too (maybe not as much as the above one, but still too long imo)
switchblade 3 works as well with uncompressed avi and has a preview, but seems to be as fast as switchblade 2 :(
switchblade4 still crashing
how did you convert your video into msmpeg4? and is xvid suitable?
btw. Quake Video Manager can convert to ROQ as well, but only 512x384 *doh*

Yeah, I tried QVM too, but when I tried to open .roq files in the 512x384 resolution, everything crashed and I had to restart the computer, but I didn't give up like the others and spent almost whole day to find the right method.
For converting to AVI I use Total Video Converter, but it must be registered, otherwise it will leave a watermark on the video.
I'm not sure, what AVI formats are suitable, but msmpeg4 worked fine for me.
One more thing: long conversion is typical for .roq files, they are very fast to decode, but very slow to encode, maybe that's why in CoD 2 there is only a couple of short videos (3 as intro and 4 before missions). |

Was I supposed to say something?
Hmm, your tutorial looks good.
It's been a while and I forgot about this post lol. I haven't really worked on it if I remembered. I just thought it was a bik file.
Anyways, I may try it if I get back to COD2 or mapping at all.
And I am pretty sure there are free video converters out there without the watermark. I am using one right now but forgot the name.
Can you not also use a video editing program? Like Windows Movie Maker or Camtasia Studio, at least the trial version?
Hope this can help with the watermark issue. |

The old movie maker (Win XP) support AVI export, the new Live Movie Maker does NOT! So it's not suitable. Camtasia uses a proprietary lossless codec, probably not working.
As uncompressed AVI worked for me, you may use VirtualDubMod for this encoding. Other free encoders are e.g. Format Factory or SUPER Converter 2011. It doesn't matter what video editing software you use as long as the encoder support the output format.

Thought so too, but that's CoD4+! |
