in my map and it still goes to backlot

Post your compile log. If your map isn't updating, then it won't see the spawn points and load the default map.

Let me rephrase.

Post your Compile log, Step 1, the BSP compile log, not the Fast file build log.

After BSP has finished building.
Right click the CMD window, say "select all".
Press Enter.
All text is copied.
Paste the text here, using the CODE button above.


Also, it appears your zone file has problems, can you also post that here too using the CODE button.

It looks as though the BSP compiled fine.

I think the problem is that you don't have your maps .gsc's.

From the looks of that FF build you've got a bunch of missing files or errors.

ERROR: Could not open 'maps/mp/mp_jail_v1.gsc'
ERROR: failed loading 'maps/mp/mp_jail_v1.gsc' of type 'rawfile'

The other errors are Xmodels.

Did you even create this GSC?

You never showed the zone file. In compile tools, click "Update Zone File" and on the right side, copy and paste that here, using the code button.

This seems to be basic map creation errors, I suggest you watch a video tutorial on Starting out, creating a basic map from the beginning. I think you are nearly there, you just need your zone file sorted out.

I also highly suggest you DO NOT name your map "_v1". This is not good for map distribution and Server updates on your map. Clients end up getting stuck with your old versions instead of being updated with the new version. If you are changing your map name to "_v2" etc. every version, the clients get a new map every time, instead of overwriting the old map, because it has the same file name.

I havent made a gsc file on a tutorial it didnt need one to load the map ingame to test how it looks.

Plus I dont know how to create a gsc file

Ok,

1. Navigate to "maps/mp/mp_backlot.gsc"
2. Make a copy of "mp_backlot.gsc"
3. Rename "copy of mp_backlot.gsc" to "mp_jail_v1.gsc" (which is the name of your map.)

Every map needs this GSC. It sets up the map with certain things like, player models, loads other scripts, and sets other map info, like ambient sound, minimap etc.


4. You should now have a new file in the following directory. "maps/mp/mp_jail_v1.gsc". (This is the file your FF build was looking for.)

5. Open "mp_jail_v1.gsc". (With any Text editor)

Make it look like I have below for a base to get it working. Copy and paste it if you need to. The double // tells the game not to read that line.

How does the Update Zone file Work:

The window is split, which references two different files.

IMPORTANT
The left side only refreshes itself, IF it finds NEW missing assets. DO not keep copying over assets that are there, just because they are there. If you have them on the right side, then you don't need to copy them again. Even some assets it tells you to add, you do not need to add.

Please reference the first post in this entire thread, it explains more on Zone file updating.


I hope this helps a little. After this is complete, Rebuild your FF and test your map again.
