In a press release today, Vivendi Universal (recently brought to news again with an ongoing lawsuit with Valve Software) announced a partnership with ATI for Tribes: Vengeance slated for October 5 in the US. Boasting a series of Single player campaigns and multiple outcomes and viewpoints of the story, it will maintain the online gameplay of the franchise, fast and furious team-oriented skills. Good news for modders as they prepare the community with necessary tools to continue the games popularity.

"Particular focus is being given to making Tribes:Vengeance easily
accessible to the video game modification (MOD) community. Irrational
Games and VU Games have worked together to ensure that
Tribes:Vengeance’s game modification tools are easily accessible and
robust."

I don't know about Tribes 2, but the original Tribes was very fun, although I think more people played the demo than the full version...lol!

I played the original some. One time I joined an online game and I was so bad I got kicked out. What was really funny is that there was only one player kicking my butt. I guess some people like to play by themselves. Anyway that turned me off that game forever. If you ain't got broadband your wasteing your money unless it has a very good SP side. I did see some of the demo of Tribes 2 and the gameplay looked really good but once again no broadband no online gameplay.

AH, the good ole' days of LAN at work before SOF1 came...

I remember the disklauncher as if it were yesturday... The lead in shot, the smell of wet paint, mmmm.... yea those were the days...

Tribes is an elite game as far as I'm concerned, I feel sry for those who think they can just step into it... Gonna be alot of practice to become even OK... that lead in is a MOFO...

i played the online beta of tribs: vengeance

not very good, it's using the UT engine so its more like a themed UT mod than a whole new game. Of course the UT engine is and always has been good for modding so there ya go.

I played Tribes2. The game was excellent, I liked it a lot. As far as connection went for T2, dail-up went smooth on my end.

But T2 pissed me off.. Didn't play for 2 months, wanted to play it again.. forgot login information so I couldn't play it ever again. And the Serial-Key could only be used once! ...least thats what I figured since it wouldn't let me install the game again! --(correct, i could install it, just could play it)

I really liked the original, I had dial-up when it first came out and it was playable, it was very fun actually and the leading with rifles was really painstaking, but not impossible.

My favorite things were the beacons and vehicles, I remember on that one map with the bridge in the middle...I flew one of those vehicles under and through it twice to get away - nothing like that at the time.

I also loved the fact the controls were so detailed, you don't often find that anywhere but MMORPG now me thinks.

Now, if only people would realize mice have more than three buttons today...lol! I have eight, :P

I never got into the game. I often found it to be laggy. So... I just gave up. There are so many good games to keep me busy that new ones have to grab my attention in the first 30 minutes or lose me.
