Yeah, I thought so, already read it.

I think the Problem with the FPS in my Map is something different anyway.

The Map is not that Big and by now I took the Fast Compiled .d3dbsp
File and put that into the .iwd and that´s defenetly wrong.

I think I should compile it completely again and look what´s happen.

I have been wondering how to portal outdoor maps myself for quite a while. I got curious one days and loaded up vitebsk_final, showing portals, (since its a relatively large, flat, outdoor map) to see how the they would be done. What the afterhourz team did was basically divide the map into five or six sections width-wise (like cutting a pan of brownies multiple times in the same direction). Now I don't understand why they would go to all the trouble, unless the fog has something to do with the portals only drawing as far as the player can see.

Just trying to add some insight and maybe finally get my mind clear about large outdoor maps.

Lee - if i understand the question correctly, you can put fog into a map to limit the players visibility to (say) 5000 units. Because the player can only see that far, its pointless drawing any geometry thats 5100 units away, so you 'cull' any geometry thats over that distance......fog and culldistance are two commands used in conjunction

Thanks peri, some good links with lots of links inside. Maybe this go around I'll get this figured out.

Outdoor portals are the point in my maps when I usually get extremely frustrated and give it up for about six months.

Well I finally found out how to do Outdoor Portals now and here is what they are for.

Outdoor Portals will help your Computer to hold down all the Calculating stuff that it would do if there are no Portals.
That will help you to have good FPS ingame.

If my Map is finally compiled and if it´s allowed, I will do a Video Tutorial to share my Ideas and to show how to do it right and very easy.
Once you have seen how to do it, it is very easy.

Ok, Compiled my Map but now I have another Problem:

All Models have strange Colors, what happend?
Anyone an answer?

Ok, The_Caretaker told me what went wrong... I´ve forgot the Gridfile [banghead] but for Testing only that one should be ok so far..Portals work great, in a few Days I will do the
Tutorial for you Guys here.
