Hi everyone,
I wanna make some custom weapons for CoD4, but I'm completely new to weapon modding, so I was wondering: wich files do I have to make to import custom weapons?
I already know I'll need a file with info about clipsize, weaponsclass, damage,... (how do you actually call it, it has no extention [confused]).
And I guess I''ll have to make a new weaponmodel and import that (so I'll need dds files)?
But what else files do I need? For example: how do I make the aim down the side view, is that also a dds file?
Ty in advance [thumbs_up]

I dont think we can even mod the weapons at all yet (those of us without the mod tools (I think fast files are needed))

You can, however, look at the stock weapon files:

open call of duty\main\iw_11.iwd with winrar or something and look in the weapons folder. all the weapons are in there

I already did that, I was able to change the clipsize of the m16 from 30 to 90 for example [devilishgrin] (files are located in iw11.iwd I think), there was just one problem: when I launched it, the modwarfare was also launched [confused], so I couldn't choose a custom class.
I think I need to create more files or something like that to fix it, I don't know...

NEVER modify stock iwd-files! create a new subfolder in Mods\ and put your custom iwds into it. if you lunch cod4 using a shortcut make sure there are no parameters given you don't want (eg. +set fs_game Mods\myMod +map mp_crossfire). Select Mods from main menue and select your own (called like the folder you've created, eg. Mods\myMod). FastFiles aren't neccessary for weapon mods (except you want new models).

^^ That's what I did: I copied the files from the iwd file to the mod folder, and left the iwd file intact. I don't think there are any parameters I don't want, at least I didn't add any.

I took a look at some stock files and at files off downloaded custom weapons (for CoD1), and figured out I probably have to make .tga files and .menu files. What else do I need?

Yep without the mod tools you wont have the maya plugins to model your own all you can do for now is re-skin the stock weapons, change their weaponinfo and maybe change the sound? (i'm not sure on that as i've not actually browesed the sound files in full) but any mod like that will have to be launched from the modwarfare since it wont read iwd's in the main folder anymore
