ok - i looked at the first map...the first error i got was lightmap allocation failed....
basically it was on the 2 large water brushes...i just used the clipper tool and made them smaller to get rid of that error

now im getting triangulation failed....i am looking for the fix - but you may not like the results, as ALOT of your brushes are misshapen [angryalien]

Thanks for looking at my map. on the 2nd map i had redone a lot of the brushes but it seemed like i was just banging my head against a wall. The highest building(prison) I have redone all the outside walls and removed the steps inside I didnt realise i had the lightmap allocation problem with the water brushes i created.

your cliffs i would recommend making out of patch meshes and dont use csg functions [angryalien]

Sorry for interrupting your topic like this. I had the exact same problem first. I used the clipping tool to make my skybox smaller. Now it has 10 surfaces (it still is a 6 sided box) And now I get this:

Sorry for the long paste. Not sure what info is important.
The map is pretty simple but big. Just started whit it. Mostly big brushes whit textures on one side and only entitys are single deathmach spawn and worldspawn values as in Mp_Carentan. (I tryed to split the map in two at the same point I cutted the skybox and removed all that would have left outside of the box. Still I get the same thing.)

I`m just starting this mapping thing. Got a lot of help from this sites tutorials, thats how i got started. I have managed to compile a few testmaps whit a single deathmach spawn. (I would like to make a ctf map but havent managed to find a tutorial yet.) English is not my strongest language so its hard to find spesific information on something. Maby someone can give me links for tutorials (ctf & domination).

I dont think that is inportant. The compiling prosses is too long to show on the screen at once so it pauses every now and then.

q3map.exe says "unknown option -vis". it seems that there is already a problem. the vis-option will create your visdata. another hit that this does not work is that flare.exe will say "no lights" in the end of your batch run.
why not opening a command line in c:\program files\call of duty\main\maps and try to execute q3map.exe with -vis option manually? e.g. "..\..\tools\bin\q3map.exe -vis -fast riva.map". if this works you can also execute flare.exe manually and will now see light and proper shadows in your map.

additional info: do you wrote q3map.exe -basedir "Call of Duty" -vis bla bla bla in the second call of q3map? if yes, please remove ' -basedir "Call of Duty" ' from the second q3map call.

Now out of nowhere i got this "openGL extension GL ARB texture compression to run radiant." when i tryed to start Radiant. I tryed to ask mrGoogle and he told me to update my display drivers. I did that including Microsoft?s .NET Version 1.1 Framework that seems to be required for the new drivers on my radeon 9600pro. So i did this and its of no help. Wonder what happened last night.
