Hi, There!
Didn´t know where to turn to, so I posted my question here:

I´d like to change the soldiers skins in CoD4.

I am using PS7 and the nvdxt tools; also I use the "latest" iwi2dds & dds2iwi converters (the older dds2iwi for cod2 and the latest from modcod4.com for cod4).

I extract the stuff I need, e.g. the "usmc_helmet_hands_sp_col.iwi"; and then convert it to a .dds (using the tool mentioned above).
Then I extract the corresponding ".nml" file, to get a "blank" to paint on to.

I mask the areas I need, e.g. the helmet parts copy them and drag them over to the original file, to form a new layer.

I alter this new layer (new color, etc.) and save it as a .dds; options: DXT5, 'use existing' mipmaps and then convert it to an .iwi, using the aforementioned tool.

Still my altered skin keeps on showing up black, until I move closer, when suddenly it shows up right.

It´s the same problem I had earlier when changing skins in CoD2.

Where am I going wrong? Is it the nvdxt tools?

Thx in advance,
Ruediger![ohwell]

[devilishgrin] Wow! That´s what I call speedy!
ThanX a lot, but I already tried that. That option doesn't seem to help...

Tried your hint again after going thru the whole process from the beginning (that means: starting from scratch all over...);
now the AI soldiers show the color I planned, but only on their gloves, where the alteration shouldn't show, but not on the helmet, as it was supposed to be...
[cry][puke]

I'm well aware about googling and don't "throw my rifle into the cornfield" (as we germans say [lol])
all too easy, but this is giving me the creeps...
