First off, dont worry, I read all your setup guides etc, and have the editor running quite close to perfect...

---> Problem:

My editor runs in extreme gamma mode (or whatever you'd like to call it!)... ie its really bright, to the extent that I cant make out much... Is there a command line I can add to my autoexec.cfg to make the gamma nice for the editor setup...

Ta,

Jbam

yes, I think you can set it in the autoexec.cfg file, but I can't remember the command. I usually look up my commands from : http://doom3.stroms.biz/

... but it's not working now.

try opening the console and typing listcsvars. there you will see the availalge things you can set.

I think you want r_gamma (default is 1). Play with that number and see what you get.

btw: to reset your video while the game console is open, type vid_restart to restart the video.

you want to mess with your shortcut. Firstly, don't mess with your regular Doom 3 shortcut, mess with a copied one specifically for D3 Radiant. add +r_fullscreen 0 +r_gamma 1 +vid_restart and +editor after the path in the target box. This will ensure you're running in a window, running with no gamma modification, vid_restart makes these changes take effect right away, and editor will spit you right into the editor. :)

K... cool... thanks so far...

At this stage, I cant find a way to make r_gamma 1 (or any value) alter this gamma problem...

I changed the autoexec.cfg to no avail (using 1 and then 0.1)

I then altered the shortcut to the editor to include +r_gamma 1 and the other bits suggested by drech...

That did something, cause now when I exit the editor the gamma doesn't correct until reboot!

The plot thickens...

Thanks for the speedy input though :) I'll let you know if/when I get somewhere with this prob...

EDIT:

OK PROB SOLVED... I added +r_brightness 0.5 to my shortcut! (It was very hard to make out, but i thought it was gamma... nup --> brightness :)

NEXT PROB!! --> I wanted to play doom 3, just for fun, you know, but now it starts in a small window :( much fiddling with "r_fullscreen" values doesn't help... what do I do to get around this :(

Thanks in advance,

bam

:EDIT

EDIT 2:

And would you believe it!... I actually get whats going on... So the autoexec.cfg overrides all extensions to a shortcut (I made r_fullscreen 1 in the shortcut... didn't work till I made the autoexec = 1)

For some silly reason, I thought the autoexec.cfg I/we created was for the editor only :D

NOW?!?! ----> TO THE TUTE SECTION, AND QUICK!!!

ta

The problem you are describing I believe is related to the video card. Go and make sure that you have the latest drivers.

I have seen this problem when certain games crash. I know your's isn't crashing, but that tells me it's a video related problem.

I have that exact same promblem allot when running doom3 also. I have actually found out a way of fixing it. I am running a Radeon 9800pro 128mb (not sure if thats what you are using) but anyways heres what I do to fix the problem.

1. right click on your desktop.
2. go to properties
3. click the settings tab
4. click advanced
5. and then all I do is click on the "color" tab and it fixes itself. Click ok a couple times and your set.
