I see so many bugz, your atmospfere is not good, to green..
that barn? it not the nicest i ever seen, and i think you must need a lot of map hours after this to compete with IW

But i hope you improve you map still..

Tell me smart-ass, except the retrieval objective bug, what other bug do you see in the barn? May I be a little happy about what I made or does this go off your limit? As far as I know, only stanjel looks better than mine (my opinion, and those of my friends). Either you have no taste or you are just some darkened person. Keep your negative comments to yourself would make my mood much better than it is now. Too much green? Look around you! Unless if you live in the middle of a desert I even think it is'nt enough green!

My map hours so far are over a 2 full days (48 hours, as you do not seem to be so cunning)

I wish to see the map(s) you made or are making before saying anything more [mad]

I cant see what your moaning about. Its better then i could do espesialy the barn. The atmosphere.....i like it, looks like some hazy sunshine and amongst the trees looks very effective.

A very nice map!!!! [biggrin]

I have to agree, the lighting is spot on (well done) it illuminates the map well and the way youve possitioned the plants and trees make the map look very natural, cant wait for the finished version! [smokin]

1. Athosfere is not good..
2. terainblending and terainheights seems really odd
3. palcing of trees don't looks like it is realisitic..

I don't say that you a bad mapper, I only say were U can spend more time in..

Whats wrong with the atmosphere?
Why are the terrain blending and terrainhights odd?
Why are'nt the positions of the trees unrealistic?

The atmosphere gives a feeling of as if it's 6 AM.
The terrain bledings are perfectly matching. The screenshot quality just sucks.
The positions of the trees are all in stragetic spots, every tree has an answer, saying it symbolic.

Well I Think Your map is Ok - Im sure You are proud of it as all mappers are proud of their work.

As for competing with IW`s top mappers.. Well have you seen the maps in "United Offensive"? Thats quite the TAG to give yourself.

Your map is Allright but it doesnt beat alot of maps already out there.
Im not putting it down, its good work, "I personally think your lighting gives the effect of early morning."

Im currently compiling my MP map "BR3NTVILLE" - and I will post a few screenshots of it later today for all to Flame.

Stryder is the only person who has seen any screenshots of it.

Anyways,,, Your map is fine dude..Keep on Mapping...

And as for the posts who pick ur map apart.

"Lets have a look at the first few maps they created when they began".

To those people: "Remember We all have to start somewhere"...."So give the guy a Break"...

Ofcourse IW mappers make cooler stuff, but hey, it's their job. They know everything and are extremely advanced. And here come we, the newbies.

I've first started making some little cave as I thought it would be neat to make some cave map. Well no, as I did'nt know anything about mapping. So I started on mp_river. (newbie) All the patches are bad and I never heard of a surface inspector and it was way too small and stuff.. after that, I check this cool map called landsitz. It's some big map with lotsa rooms and stuff. Big manor. So I thought, hey, I want to make a SP as the map gave me quite alot of ideas.

So I started sp_manor (intermeddiate (sp knowledge)) as you, br3nt, knows. After knowing how SP mapping goes I kept on mapping it and mapping.. and using GSG - Subtract. BIG MISTAKE. I ignored the warnings IW gave us because I found it such an easy way. After using it quite a while (with breaking a sweat once I press it) I found this major patch bug that was unfixable - except if I deleted nearly everything). sp_manor was failed miserably.

Now with the thought of don't-use-subtract!, I began mp_field. I first made every part of the map with my so-called patch blocks. Very handy as it helped me make great patches and let me know how far I am in the map. I knew these important things: How to make trenches, how to blend, how to make a cool bunker, how to .. how to .. how to! I still remember the day I began making the map. And so proud of what it is now.. Fascinating..

So anyway, now I'm here being all proud as everyone I know sees me as a 1337 mapper and stuff (advanced :D). I know most (not all, as there is no all, there are always hidden secrets..) tips & tricks and I can just read the tutorials in my mind as if it is an open book. So many compile errors have I been confronted that I now also know how to confront them all. I hate compile errors.. I know stuff about scripting..

Though there is always a question that most of us do not know, maybe all! How to give the bushes that little sound it makes when you walk through it.. Now I know WHY it is, because if you use nocollision bush (what most of us use as most of us prefer walking through the bushes) it automatically disables everything.. does anyone know how to give it back it's neat sound? I'll check dawnville later..


Uh.. enough of my mapping-bio, where was I? Oh yes.
IW are in a team, they made the editor so know all the tips and tricks. I used their barn in the single player demo as an example for mine. I used the trenches they made in brecourt as an example for mine. Nearly all the stuff I made is copied (sort of, as I started from scratch with everything). Why, you ask? As that is the best thing you should do! Learn from the experienced. Carentan is a very popular map. So hey, if that maps popular because this, that and that, I'll sort of copy that style and look! Everyone loves it! It's also cool how I made the barn: When I first started it I was like "hoho, this is going to be so neat". I made a 128X67 box. I had no idea what the texture would be like and stuff. And look what I made from completely nothing!
