I am one of a group of 15-20 people of varying skill levels, that play CoD UO during breaks & lunch over our work network. Some guys average 100+ score, while others barely break double digits. When several of the 100+ players get on one team, you can imagine the devastation that ensues.

I need a way to remedy this situation; either by being able to assign players to different teams, or by creating & instituting a handicap mod.

Cooperation of the other veteran players is luxury that I do not possess.

That about sums it up.

Any help is appreciated.

BTW... I've seen a 'handicap' setting in my UO config file & cvarlist. Is there any way this could be an easy solution that I'm overlooking?

What about altering the rank mod to take things like ammo clips and grenades away when you gain a rank?

Just a thought.

I've made a reverse rank mod, and we are using it right now, but it isn't doin' the trick. 75% of the players use the thompson, so ammo is readily availabe. We still have shut-out games.

I have an access database that I use to track score / death & win / loss stats, so I have a good pool of data to track player skill... but I have no idea how to use that to help balance teams, without the players actually agreeing to it...
Most people will have the same IP address every game, but names change a LOT... Is there any way to automatically assign a player to a team based on data in a spreadsheet, or text file?

If this is not possible, what I had in mind for a handicap is vaying speed, health or damage according to your relative score.

If there is a way to adjust the speed of a player without doing so by changing the weapons then I'm not aware of it.

... Have you looked through the... dang whats its name... the mod that uses mustard gas grenades and napalm grenades and has the different classes?

I know that there is a code in there that alters the players health based on their score, it can also alter their sprint time but not the speed of the sprint.

As far as scripting goes I'm not the best but I was trying to weapon mod and add mustard gas grenades into the mod. While trying that I stumbled upon those codes.

E-mail the maker. When I did, he was more than willing to help me with the mod but it was just beyond my grasp even with him explaining (we are talking some serious coding).

I can tell you right now though that what you want will be extremely difficult.

Is it Merciless? I think the guys I work with said something about Merciless & different classes, but I may be wrong.

I was browsing through the AWE mod's coding & stumbled upon some player team switch function. I'll probably be spending some time looking into this...

I enjoy the challenge of coding, and I don't mind 'extremely difficult'... at least you didn't say 'impossible'... 'cause that would be discouraging... lol

You have been a great help. I have a better idea of where to start now. Thanks.
