I just downloaded rhinoceros 4.0(modeling software) and found out it can load 3ds models! so I went to turbosquid.com and found this really amazing m63sniper rifle model, for free! I downloaded it and I'm currently looking for textures to slap on this sucker. here's the untextured pic:



I was thinking about making 3 versions: wood handle w/matte black stock, all matte black, and all camo.

Will update soon as possible!

I can't continue my work on the shotgun in lr3d. my version is unregistered and because so, I can't export anything as an obj file for changing into an xmodel. I might continue it with rhinoceros.

but right now I'm just trying to learn how to texture the model in rhino.

Question: Have you converted this into a xmodel yet? and if so... how? (that is from the Rhino file)

well, first you export/save it as an obj, or if supplied, you can export it as an Xmodel (So I've heard). I found a special application that converts the obj file into an Xmodel_EXPORT file. the rest is done in the asset_manager application.

I'll probably continue my work with the shotgun, just as soon as I can find a free program for model making =P

I'm trying all I can to texture the model, but I can't quite figure it out. I'll keep exploring...

.obj files dont support bones + tags
u need them to get it to work in game

actually raaa, the creator of that model(that I posted) seems to like to use vertexes. there's actually only like, 30 polys. not bad for a model like that.
