I've been reading about some problems with the editor and I have some of them.
When I was able to open the editor, the Editor was too bright, well, I just read that we have to check the game gama and that will fix it, ok 'till here. My other problem is, I can't open the editor anymore, always I got an error message, something about a "Couldn't parse Doom qe4. or something like that, line 16,17, not completed", and ask me to change preferences, and I just notice that in preferences, where is the map path: dialog box, theres nothing, what should I put there?
Any Help, Please!. |

Have you tried reinstalling the game?
The map path dialog box isn't going to cause this error.
Did you try saving the properties... any changes at all just to get it to save. Perhaps that will reset the file.
Yes I've reinstall the game and start all over again, but still the same problem, the editor it wont open because this error:
Code: Couldn't Parse doom.qe4<br />
GetlastError() = 5 - 0<br />
<br />
An unrecoverable error has occured. Would you like to edit Preferences before exiting Q3Radiant?

C:\Program Files\id Software\Quake 4\q4base\editor.cfg
then launch the editor. The missing file should be replaced with a default.
I can't find that file. I don't have Quake 4 game in my pc or editor.
Ok. here is what i did before:
I went to this site; http://home.comcast.net/~mrrocket/editing.htm
and download D3 Radiant v.1.5.0. and also I've downloaded the video tutorial for mapping to D3, but I notice that there was some stuff that wasn't in mine editor, like compile and run the game from there, so I went to check the site again and they says, that the game has an editor in it, followed the instructions, and open once so I get happy, then I've opened again and the grid lines was fade, closed it, and I reopened it, and the error mess. just start, so I thought was the radiant editor, youo know, thingking the two editors in the same gaME will screw a little, so I uninstall D3 Radiant v1.5.0. but still the same, so I uninstall the whole game and reinstall it, and still the same crap.
Can this info help? to help me? |

foyleman writes...Quote: I should have remembered you were dealing with Doom 3 and not Quake 4... although they are basically the same game and should have the same files... just in different folders.
Doom 3 comes with a version of radiant built right into the game. It also allows you to compile and test the game right there. You can use another editor such as GTKRadiant, but usually you cannot compile and play right from that editor. Rather you might be able to compile, but to play you probably have to manually run it from within the game.
Check out GTK Radiant.
Why you are getting the error? I really don't know. Some ideas:
- uninstall and reinstall. But before you reinstall, delete the folder where the game was installed to make sure that everything was deleted.
- look for the editor.cfg file and delete it. That might help with the problem.
- if you have more than one monitor, don't stretch the editor across more than one monitor.
Ok, everything is ok now, thanks a lot for your help
Only one problem more. My Editor doesn't have those bottons to compile or play the map as it show in the video tut.
Why? |
