I been wondering if is posible to make a reflective glass so can be used as a mirrow, I know probably will not give the effect to see players reflection, but atleast if it can give just any kind of reflection, like reflective water.
Do anybody knows if is that posible? and if it is, how...?

i don't know about cod2 as it uses shaders differently, but in cod1 there are shadertypes that use "tcgen environment" that'll map a generic day or night view on top of a texture giving it a glossy sheen. There's also tcgen nv_dot_product_reflect_cube_map_eye_from_qs in the various water shaders, that render a reflection of the skybox.
If theres a scripts folder in any of the cod2 iwds have a look in the the one for water

i have a feeling it would be in tools, if there were a texture for mirrors.

the mirror texture in common doesn't work as a mirror. From what i've read even cod4 doesn't have a proper mirror function

I believe theres no mirrors textures in there, and I believe that theres no way to make anyone to work, because the game engine is limited I think, thats why we can not have a real water effect, with waves and murk, since the editor works only with brushes, the only thing that we can do is setting textures to all brushes we've used.

Its a real good game (COD2), we can have real fun playing it, probaly, one day we can have an Editor where we can make more stuff than today without too much coding or scripting and the game engine coudl be better to make more realistic stuff.

...But, if anybody still have a good idea to make a mirror effects, please, welcome!!! thx!!!

I have seen something liek this before...and it was quiet simple from what I understood... There was the texture that looks like mud that has the dirty water in it as part of the texture, and u could see through the water, I think its just a messup in the texture...but, they put everythign above the water also under the water but upside down...so like lightbulbs were hanging upwards. It looked just like a mirror, the only thign you can't see is the player..

Yeah! I've seen that texture too, it is a mud texture with water on it, but you say, "they put everything above the water also under water but upside down", what do you mean?.

Do you know how that reflection works?

Just make you're regular water. then make another layer of water, except make it one unit thin and then hit the "rotate on Y axis" button twice. then put your water layer underneath the top of the other water layer, but keep a 1 unit wide space in between the two layers. then when you're underwater in game it will look like the surface water texture from underwater. that's what they were saying.

What it means is that they copied and y-axis flipped the brushes that surround the water, placed so they look mirrored
