This is weird indeed.

Have you tried expanding the map to the limit and then draw a box around the whole area and then select inside?

Heck, if you still have the map file I'd like to look at it and see if I can come up with something. Email addy is below. If not then no problem.

Yeah - hid all the patch planes, and did select inside on the new version, just in case, but it was still there.

I reckon it is something to do with the number of patch planes - most of them being very large and bordering onreaching their maximum planes, so I've been trying it again but this time using curved terrain meshes - takes a lot longer to do, but at least I wont have to worry about polygon count or players falling through patch meshes.
