I bumped only recently into the HL2 coop mod, puzzles and coop shooting quests, and frankly I like the idea.

Now how do I get started... I need some basic info how to spawn creatures, aliens, zombies, how to give them certain amount of life, change the dmg they do, who to attack, how to trigger them, etc.

Start with a small area. I want weak headhumpers + zombies, and pistols that spawn in random places around the area
(is that possible?).
How do I make all players force-join the game as rebels ?
And tell them with what weapons to spawn or not to ?

I want them to proceed through the map and have *checkpoints*, which when activated work as a new spawn, so they don't have to walk from the very start all the way to where the guys in the front are... lot of issues to start :D

A lot of that sounds like basic mapping questions of which can be answered in beginner tutorials. To spawn things specific to that mod, you will need to refer to the creators website. Otherwise spawning creatures is the same throughout.. just pick the right model to spawn.
