Is there a way to change spawn points in a map that is already compiled?

Not that I know. Also.. if the map is not yours, it's not a nice thing to do to change other peoples work. Try contacting the maker of the map to see if he/she can add the spawnpoints you want.

I agree with caretaker. you shouldn't screw around with other people's work. but there is a way to change the spawn points but i'm not even sure if it will work, as I have never tried it. and either way if you do copy the make then you should ask them first because if you dont then that might actually be considered plagiarism. but that's prolly way overboard.[tongue][rolleyes]

I totally understand about about other peoples work and I really don't want to change their work. And I would never take credit for other peoples work ever! I just wanted to know because there is a map and you spawn in the sky outside the box. It isn't to bad but it is annoying when people ask why are you running this broken map. I don't think that the person that made the map would be against fixing the problem. There are no credits in the pk3 file??? how would I find out who made it?

Doesn't the AWE additional gametype "Hold the Flag" remove at least one spawn point?

Hello general![cool]
I don't know we never use the game type hold the flag. I am wanting to know if you can remove spawn points. from the actual map files.

I doubt it's possible to remove a spawnpoint from a map.

Which map is it, maybe someone knows the maker of the map.

The map is Varaville. Anyone know who created it? If you would let him know in death match you spawn in the sky sometimes on top of the sky box.[sad]

ok, use viewpos coordinates in the console to see where you are in the dodgy spawn points

then, open varaville's bsp with a hexeditor and look for deathmatch spawns with similar coordinates and change the values - make sure the values stay the same length - that is, if is is 3452, 3413, 392 keep the lengths as 4 4 and 3, so you don't add or take away any bytes to the bsp. There's also an entities editor on this site somewhere.

if you do edit the bsp though, then you must rename the bsp, it's gsc, soundloadspecs, and the values inside the arena file so it won't cause conflicts with the original varaville other people will already have
