It must be my preferences or soemthing, but when I put down path nodes, my guys don't follow them. I followed the basic enemy ai tutorial perfectly, and once they spawn, they won't go to the edge like they should. And when I do get one of the guys going, he doesnt go for at least 5 secodns after he spawns. Does it have to do with 2 guys so close? Because I have 2 allies at the starting point, and one of them is connected to a crouch_cover node which is literally on top of him. Then theres a guy about 70 inches to his left, facing diagonally, so he kind of sees the crouching guy. Then in the game, I'll look and wait for about 5 seconds for the one guy crouches, and at the same time the other diagonal guy runs to the node also, but cant crouch since theres a guy already on top of it. However, I have one guy a little bit farther away from anyone and he starts to follow his path nodes as soon as I start the game, but he doesnt really follow the path nodes, just the end one, which he is connected too, because no matter what shape I put the path nodes in from him to the end node, the guy ignores the pathnodes and goes straight to the end node.

Any help?

Three things.

First, when you compile the map, make sure that you have the "connect paths" option selected in the IW compiler.

Second, make sure that the g connect paths is in the properties. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then do this: Right click on your COD2 SP icon and go to properties. Add +set g_connectpaths 1 +set developer 1 to the end, so that it should look like:
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\CoD2SP_s.exe" +set g_connectpaths 1 +set developer 1

The developer 1 is there because if anything goes wrong with your map, the console will give you a more detailed answer as to where the error is located.

Anyway, Third: Your actors need to be targeting an action node. Your actors should never target pathnodes or negotiation nodes, just nodes like "cover_crouch" and stuff. The only other time an actor can target anything else is when you are using a friendlychain (in that case they'd be targeting you).

You can't simply place action nodes at the end of a path of pathnodes and expect them to go to it, they need to be targeting it. To do this, just select the actor, then select the action node and press "w". A line will be connecting them. I suggest you do a friendlychain though, because it looks better and if you want guys fighting around you, it's a must.

Hope that helps.

I had all of those done except the +developer 1 and the friendly chain.

I will check over, and add +developer 1 and see if I can get them working.

About the friendly chain, what does this do? Will this make them follow me or something? Because that would be great.

Ya the friendlychain basically has them follow you around the map while utilizing action nodes around wherever you are. There's a tut on how to make one in the COD mapping tuts, it's the same for COD2.
