Sup everybody...I'm having some trouble on importing my own sounds...first i'll explain what im doing (project)..I'm working on the "police station" from "Resident evil 2" (hella big fan of the series..)And so i want to add the "main hall" music to give it that authentic look and sound, ya know..So, i got everything put to where it needs to go (i was reading through to forum and found out how to do it) but where would i put the "mysounds.sndshd" file????

heres how i got it so far

1. i put the sounds in the "base" folder in the doom 3 dir.
(sounds/thefronthall.wav)

2. i made the text document
ex.

thefronthall{
minDistance 1
maxDistance 15
volume 3

sound/thefronthall.wav
}

Now what???where do i put it or save it at (dir) did i do somethin wrong?????please help

save that file right in the sound folder.

It appears that everything else is correct.

no no. notepad is perfect. But make sure that the file didnt' get saved with the wrong extension. Sometimes your computer will save it wrong. What it will do is add a .txt. extension to your file without you seeing it. A way to avoid missing this is to :

- open windows file exporer
- select Tools > Folder Options
- select View
- uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
- press OK

When you use your audio in the game. Do you hear a single beep? Did you check the console for error messages?

alright, i fixed it...damn im such an idiot....

th folder was called "sounds" when its supposed to be "Sound"
with no "s" at the end...finaly i can finish my map...OH how would i add multiple sounds??do i just use the same text document and add more to it? or do i create mutiple ones?

sorry for all the questions, :) thanx foyleman

I would include all sound shaders in the same file and name the file the same as the map name. That would tie everything together and cut down on all those sound files.

So.. use the same file is my answer.
