This is not an easy thing to do without the right tools but it can be done. First you will need Regoliths cod model exporter which can be found here: http://www.diegologic.net/CoD/XmodelExporter.htm
Then you will need a copy of maya unlimited 6.0 to open the .obj file and do some tweaking to the polys so it will export properly. Included with the cod2 tools is the maya plugin which must be installed, but by its self it dosent seem to work but there is a patch that was made to it and it is posted on iwnation forums (sorry didn't look up the link). Then just select your model and export and use asset_manager to convert your textures and then the xmodel. The biggest hurdel will be finding a copy of maya 6.0 and if you have no experience in using it there is a big learing curve involved. I suggest using digital tutors or the gnomon workshop and use the video tutorials to get a basic understanding of how maya works. There are a lot of people now like me who have some experience with this now who can help with specific problems or questions. I have only been working with maya since the cod2 tools came out and with lots of pratice and patience it has worked out well for me. I am finaly getting a wacom tablet so I can do custom textures much better and work with zbrush easer. Just don't give up!

i downloaded the program, installed it, opened it and then i found the CODUO Xmodel folder, so i opened that and i see the list of what appears to be every model, so i clicked on one, and they all have a red cross by the side of them, and their are no iwi files, no matter what model i click on their are just red crosses so i can't do anything with them, do i need to have maya and that plugin installed first ?

ok i got the program running, i managed to open the xmodels i wanted in 3ds max, so i can also make a custom texture for hte xmodels too in adobe photoshop, so here are my questions:

1) must i use maya to save teh modified model so it works in cod2?

2) what file ormat does the model have to be saved as ?

3) is their a tutorial on what i must enter into the assett manager to convert the model so it works in cod2 ?

thanks

Yes, bc. there is only an export plugin for Maya 6.0 available (so the models can't be exported with another version of Maya or another 3d modeling program).

Irrelevant, bc. the models must be exported, and the exporter sets its own file format which is needed for the asset manager.

A tutorial for exporting models from Maya and converting them with the Asset Manager can be found here.

Like I said before, not real easy without the proper tools or really impossible without maya. I have heard that Jack the Ripper from Unbound Forces has made his own plugin which will work with other versions of maya. I am pretty sure he won't release it until unbound forces is complete. I am very sure they put in a lot of work into it.

Okay, so how do you use the diego logic model exporter?

I can't seem to get it to work for some reason.
