For the smoke effect, go into your Call of duty 2/main folder. Open up iw_07.iwd with winrar or program of your choise then click fx/smoke/ . Pick the effect you want and play it with playfx() or loopfx()

for making smoke (and fire) you can use this tutorial:
http://www.modsonline.com/Tutorials-read-345.html

For making fog you can see at this tutorial:
http://www.modsonline.com/Tutorials-read-324.html

setExpFog(0.0001, 0.55, 0.6, 0.55, 0);
just play with the numbers and see what the best option is for your fog.

lets forget about the smoke for a second. when i say fog i mean is there a way i can script it like dust so i can control where it is. for example:

maps\mp\_fx::loopfx("dust_wind", (-928,3736,216), 3, (-928,3736,224));

this is a script for dust. is there a thick whit fog effect that i can replace dust_wind with. i know I've seen white fog before in maps. usually night maps.

If you want fog in a few areas rather than having it over the whole map, you'll have to use FX. Just have it looping, and if it isnt thick enough, then you can have the same effect looping in the same place, just with different timing, so when one is dying out, the new one starts.

You'll just have to find the FX, which suits you best.

1) Where can i find the different types of fx to choose from?

2) Maybe it will help if you understand why I want fog. I am building a small bash map that takes place at the top of a building. However, I don't plan on building the side of the building. What the fog will do is block the view so the player does'nt realize that the building isn't there, or in other words making the illusion that the building is there. So I need fog surrounding my building and not throughout the entire map. Almost as if the building is surrounded by clouds. What do you recommend I do?

As someone said all FX are found in iw_07.iwd

If your map is atop a "building", and only takes place up there, how is a person ever gonna see the side of the building? I just dont think you'll be able to get FX thick enough to give the impression your in the coulds (or if there anything white enough). The only thing you would be able to get thick enough is "setexpfog" as someone said eariler but the does effect the whole map.

You could use FX editor to make your own FX< but like you i have no idea how it works.
