Is there any way of editing a stock map or is it a matter of remaking it?

Yes as many people have done so, as long as you have the .map file and know how to use radiant then knock yourself out. The only major problem is that once you change it but keep the original name you can get all sorts of problems at the server level.

I advise caution when messing with stock maps and as such I never bother with them.


What exactly did you want edited and to what map?

I was looking to use a stock map as a base for conversion and expansion on toujane. Where would I go about finding the .map file tho cos I cant seem to find it in the game iwd's???

I don't think CoD 2 comes with any stock .map files except Matmata. There might be a decompiler somewhere but if it exists I have yet to see it or else I would have already edited my own version of Toujane as it's my favorite level.

You could always try to remake it like others have done.

Im sure that Matmata is the only stock map that is available with the .map because it comes with radiant. My bad if I mislead you with my earlier post.

But this does bring up an interesting point. IW should consider releasing the .map files for all the stock maps that shipped with Call of Duty 2 because after the patch they seemed to have lost all interest in support the game anyway. They are all hot on CoD4 so why not give out the rest of those .map files. It isnt like they actually have to build them, just provide a .zip with them all in it.

Maybe I will post this thought over there and see what doesnt happen.
