Based on some chat that Sparks. had with some of those guys, there will most likely be an editor that ships after the game. They want to put one together and just need time and permission to do so.

While I am betting the editing methods are roughly the same, There must have been some great improvements that require such an adjustment to the environment. The tools they use now only work on their bog servers in their environment. They have to package it up to work on a home PC before we can use them.

I find it odd that developers can't work on the game unless they are in the office. You'd think they would encourage people to take work home with them... unless that is too big of a risk. hmmm.

I wont mind if it doesnt ship with the game as long as it is not too long after. I would say within a month to 6 weeks would be good. Most people will want to play the sp and experience the mp before any real big need for new maps become the battle cry.

First, the game may blow in which case no one will want to map for it anyway....

Second, mappers will need to explore the environment geographically to make sure that what they envision for new maps makes any kind of sense at all.

Third, Im sure that the stock maps should be able to sustain us all for the few months that it will take for the newer customs to show up.

Besides all this there are several other "hopefully good games" being released this fall and they include titles suchas Crysis and Team Fortress.

Well, I really hope it won't be long for the editor, because after I got COD2, it took me a few months to get the will to learn radiant, however, this time, I intend to learn to use the COD4 editor right away

Going by the trailers...I have a feeling mapping is somehow gonna be a little more complication than what weve encountered so far. They could surprise us with an easy to use mapping editor [idea] (ie Crysis style?).

I vote for a couple of months gameplay before we get distracted with editing.

I'm throwing a few layout ideas around in my cod2radiant currently in hopes that I can import them into the cod4 editor down the road. Go wide open and industrial from the looks of all the screen shots and teaser videos. [thumbs_up]

One of the IW employees said on a forum it's more than likely possible, but he hasn't tried it.

I think it would be best to wait until some reporter asks if we can open maps from prev COD games. well I think you could be able to import it but im not 100% on that. you could make it for COD,CODUO,or COD2and then just recreate it on CoD4, but that might take ahwhile.=P id ask if theyre using the same software cuz then you could make the basic buildings and stuff like that.
