OK I am attempting to run some custom maps on my server but I am getting the iwd sum error. I can tell the error has been addressed before but I am thinking I do not have it setup correctly in the server. I noticed there isnt a tutorial that I could find in cod2 tuts that explain the proper way to setup maps and how do you setup a redirect. So here are some of my questions.
When loading custom maps onto your server should you load them into a folder under cod2/main/maps/mp or just under main? on the redirect does it have to be in the exact same location or can it be under main? I tried to load it and the server came back with a couldnt find map whatever.d3dbsp so I had to unzip the iwd and place it in that folder and it worked. Is that right? I thought I just needed the iwd? I noticed the ftp I am using, when I click the map on the subdomain, main it says it is a .zip even tho the extension is .iwd. Does that sound correct? Does everything in your main (localized_english.iwd etc..) need to be moved to the main on your redirect or just the added mods and maps? I am running the extreme 1.5(or trying too). and there is a mod folder called extreme I put next to main with the 2 iwds in it. should I put those folders on the subdomain main page or should I first make a call of duty 2 folder and put them in that to reflect how it is on the server? any suggestions muchly appreciated. and I think a tutorial on just setting up a server under cod2 would be awesome.[rocking] tia, u guys rock btw!

Haven't had a server for long time, but i'm pretty sure it's like this....

- Place you main folder so it look like this.
http://www.my.website.com/cod2/main
Now add the .iwd file in there.

Edit your .cfg file(Config) that you got on the 'Server FTP'.
Redirect or whatever it says, go right to....
http://www.my.website.com/cod2/main

Then it auto downloads all the IWD Files you got in main.

The same with fs_game thing, i think:D

If i'm wrong, please correct me:D

REMEMBER TO ADD YOUR MAP IN THE MAP ROTATION!

I got most of that. there is actually a tutorial for editing the server cfg, and the map rotation i have done and is not the problem as I stated it couldnt find the map to load. But would still be good to add if someone cares to make a tutorial on this. But this doesnt really address any of the problems I am asking? maybe a lil step by step on the proper way to do this if someone doesnt mind [wink]. I know Its been awhile for me and I had a server at one time loading a single custom map, and it dled fine. But I cant remember which way I had it setup main or main>maps>mp. Also I cant remember if I had the d3dbsp or just the .iwd. And all the other questions I asked in the original post [thumbs_up]

Q- OK I am attempting to run some custom maps on my server but I am getting the iwd sum error.
A- You have too much custom maps in your server or some don't work together.

Q- When loading custom maps onto your server should you load them into a folder under cod2/main/maps/mp or just under main?
A- Maps go in the Main

Q-on the redirect does it have to be in the exact same location or can it be under main?
A- Main and the fs_game folder you created.

Q- I tried to load it and the server came back with a couldnt find map whatever.d3dbsp so I had to unzip the iwd and place it in that folder and it worked. Is that right?
A- No its wrong. Server use iwd files.

Q- I thought I just needed the iwd?
A- Indeed

Q- I noticed the ftp I am using, when I click the map on the subdomain, main it says it is a .zip even tho the extension is .iwd. Does that sound correct?
A- An iwd file IS a zip file but whit another extension.

Q- Does everything in your main (localized_english.iwd etc..) need to be moved to the main on your redirect or just the added mods and maps?
A- No. The game files go in the main, the Mods files in the fs-game folder. Maps go in the Main and in the redirect ( with the mods clientfile ).

Q- I am running the extreme 1.5(or trying too). and there is a mod folder called extreme I put next to main with the 2 iwds in it.
A- When you create the fs-game folder ( in the COD2 folder ), you put the mods files in it and in the Main.

Q- should I put those folders on the subdomain main page or should I first make a call of duty 2 folder and put them in that to reflect how it is on the server?
A- What are you calling a "subdomain page"?

What are you trying to do exactly? I mean are you trying to make a Local server? or did you rented one from a company?

Thanks capt for getting back to my questions. I am trying to run a local server over a t1. I am trying to use an ftp site to free up some bandwidth to just run the server over the t1. I noticed that when I click to dl the maps off of the ftp site via ie it says "you are attempting to dl a .zip file is that correct?" which I would think it should read an .iwd file. and when I dl it, it changes the extension to a .zip file. SO I am thinking that it may not be working correctly for me and when cod2 attempts to upload the maps it doesnt recognise the .zip files... even tho they were uploaded properly and display the correct .iwd extension on the site. When the dedicated server starts with the maps I dled from codutility.com[thumbs_up] to the main directory, It gave me an error on console about couldnt find map whatever.d3dbsp under main/maps/mp. So I unpacked the iwd and moved the d3dbsp into the mp folder and the server loaded cod2 fine. I have deleted everything out of my main folder on the server except the 10 custom maps I dled and I deleted everything out of my pc running cod2 except the required .iwds and I get the message iwd sum error on the pc running cod2. It never even attempts to dl.. even tho I setup the cfg file correctly(Im pretty sure [rolleyes]) It starts to load the map minus any loading screen image, just the map name then cuts out with that error.

The problem with the maps is that the server is trying to d/l them from the main/maps folder and this is wrong. The game is searching for them there:( Maybe, someone who have a Windows server ( rented one ) may share his files with you. For my part, all my servers are hosted on a Linux machines.

You also need a command line. This command line gives the informations about the server settings like the net-ip, net_port, the fs_basepath, the fs_homepath, the fs_game, the server config used, the map rotation, etc...

I know someone who can help you more ( if he wants ). I'll send you is email by pm.
