Hi everyone,
I know that the topic I am about to discuss again has surfaced on the forum before, but I am still in the dark about it. From what I can tell, some people have raised the same questions as I am about to do a while back, but there was no definitive reply at the time.
What I need to know is how to make elevator doors work properly. I have watched a video tutorial by Foleyman (thanks again for that video, it helped me quite a lot ), so I have a working elevator that goes between two floors and displays all of the necessary info properly.
How can I make a couple of doors that are attached to that elevator (so they travel together with the elevator when it goes between floors) and open when the elevator arrives at each floor? Additionally, does anyone know how to make another set of doors at each level, so that they open together with the elevator doors, when the said elevator arrives at a floor?
Please, help with this conundrum, I have been trying to figure this out for about a week now!

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply, Foyleman, your help with my mods is greatly appreciated! Thank you for all of your hard work on those video tutorials, they helped me a lot!
I have used your tutorial on how to create a working elevator, so I used the func_elevator to make that happen. As for doors, I dont have any yet, since I dont know how to attach them to an elevator so they go up and down with it. Thanks to one of your other video tutorials, I know how to make double doors work together (I can put them in a single team and that would make them open at the same time).
But how do I link a team of such doors to an elevator and attach them to that elevator so the whole group travels together from floor to floor?
Also, once I know how to do the above, how do I make another set of double doors on each floor that block off access to the elevator shaft until the elevator arriives and its set of doors trigger the shaft doors on that floor to open?
I tried linking a set of doors to another set of doors, but so far came up with zilch. I would really appreciate it if you could try to explain how to do this or better yet make another video tutorial. |

Hi,
Thank you, Gaspode, for the last message. I have registered with the 3D Buzz website and downloaded their tutorials, but unfortunately for me, my media player could not run them as it cant use the codec that those videos require and it cant download the thing either.
So, to cut my story short, I am back to square one. I have read some of the other people's messages on these forums some more and there seems to be some kind of an interesting type of doors called the inner_door. These doors are mentioned in the elevator properties, so they probably are the ones I am looking for, but I still have no idea how to use them. I suppose I could try and use the trial and error method with these doors, but the way things are looking right now, I probably would not have any elevator doors in my mod, because of all these problems...
Oh, well, as the saying goes, back to the drawing board, lol.
