I made a texture using adobe photoshop CS2. I made sure all my picture sizes were divisable by 2 so they would tile correctly.

I diffused the map, and created the specular map, also I bumped the polygons in and out using NVIDIA normal map tools. I saved all of the textures in a folder,

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life 2 deathmatch\h12\materialsrc\chapter13

I used the vtex.exe to change the photoshop images to the .VTF file format. It then saved to another folder named,

C:\Program Files\steam\SteamApps\username\half-life 2 deathmatch\h12\materials\chapter13

My Question is what did I do wrong, or where would my texture be?

Also if anyone could tell me exactaly how to Create my own texture using the right process in order. I'm using sourse sdk and adobe photoshop CS2 to make this happen.

what size was the texture you made?

You said the VTF file saved, so is it missing from the editor or the game or both?

You didn't mention making a VMT. Did you make one?

I heard from Warren and it sounds like he did everything correctly based on the questions above. So I am going to continue from there...

Check the files to make sure they are where they belong and that they are in the correct format.

To make sure the files were saved with the correct name, you need to be able to see the enter filenames:
- open windows file explorer.
- select Tools > Folder options
- select the View tab
- uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"

Now check your folder ...\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp]materials\chapter13
Confirm that you have the 3 converted image files in there (difffuse, specular and bump).

Next we check your material file. Look in the same folder as above and confirm that the file was saved as brick.vmt and not brick.vmt.txt

If the above information all checks out, then I would like you to send me your files so I can test them out here. What I would like you to send are:
- the 3 tga files
- the 3 vtf files
- the material file

zip them up and email them over if you don't mind.

Foyleman, you rock.[rocking]

Thanks again for the help. Without unchecking the hide extensions box I never would have caught the .vmt file being saved as a .txt file.[wave]
