Ok, I have a dual boot of XP Pro and Vista Home Premium x64 edition, so I can boot to XP and use the editor which is cool, but kinda annoying.. all of my games work great under Vista except the Quake4 and Doom3 editors dont work. they launch, but everyhting shows blank like it would look if antialiasing were enabled in game or something.. I suspect a compatability issue with Aero, has anyone else used Vista and seen this? Thanx...

I never expected them to work. They require openGl which was dismissed with Vista. Hopefully the graphics options of these games will be better supported in future patches, but until I know for sure I am sticking with XP.

Any sign or word of a fix for Radiant to work under Vista? I just bought a loaded kick-ass system primarily for mod dev and it comes with Vista Premium. Do I need to buy WinXPpro?

I see that id's idtech5 new engine doesn't use Radiant for it's inbuilt dev tool, so maybe development/support for Radiant has ceased?

Thx

Radiant has almost always been a community effort so you can't rely on upgrades. You need to hope that there is something in Vista for opengl support. That would solve these problems.

Thanks for the quick response. I think I'll keep my older XP Pro system fr Q4Radiant build and use the new system for graphics and 3D modeling work.

Thanks for the help

I'm using the Q4Radiant 1.1 that comes with Quake. Is there a way to upgrade to a newer version? I noticed GTK Radiant is at 1.5, is there a way to install this and use it for my Quake dev?

Thx

I don't know if GTK supports Quake 4. You'll have to check their site.

I just want to be clear, that the game does play under vista very well, and all of my other OpenGL applications work great under Vista, Nvidia has the same full and robust openGL ICD in their Win Vista drivers that they have in their XP drivers, its just the Quake4 (and Prey) editors that dont work.. Maybe running in a 64bit environment has somthing to do with it?

The problem is vista and the way it handles opengl. I know of no fix other than to use XP.

I found this posted at qeradiant.com for GTKradiant, current version:

"Special note for Vista-users:
You have to disable the desktop-styling in the properties of GtkRadiant.exe! In case of wrong menu-rendering you can switch to the "Raleigh" gtk-skin.
The gtk-theme can be changed in [install-folder]/etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc. "

Doesn't this imply it should work under Vista?
