Author Topic: Beginner Server Admin AWE 3.2 Help

I am a Beginner Server Admin, and i would like to install the AWE 3.2 Mod. however i cannot make it work. can anyone point me to a step by step guide on how to do it, i got the fs_game folder in my COD2 root directory and have the IWD and the Logo in that folder,

when i start my server and log into it, i see the awe 3.2 cal on the bottom left and the mortars are falling, i see red dots on the compass, however i dont get any of the weapons selections, sprint, health bar etc, i went into the awe.cfg file
and turn all that on but its not showing after restart. i even went into Rcon and exec awe.cfg but nothing happens.

my server target line is: set to +set fs_game awe3.2, + exec server.cfg. if i obviously put awe.cfg it wont load, because of map rotation, yes im a "noob" but id like some help. any suggestions would be appreciated.

ok just a few thoughts seeing as i run 5 32 man servers on cod2 + 2 part time servers [rocking]
Make sure your target line is this example:

"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\CoD2MP_s.exe" +set fs_game awe3b5 +set dedicated 2 +set net_ip ***.***.***.*** +set net +port 28960 +set server.cfg +set map_rotate

DONT FORGET you can change the ( server.cfg ) with your servers cfg file name example. ( ukclan.cfg ) and also
replace the **** with your ip and you can change the awe3b5 with any mod folder that you run , also remember that in your servers main .cfg file you must have in place for awe mods (example) exec awe.cfg << at the bottom of your server.cfg other wise the awe.cfg wont be triggered off.

Also if you are using any of the awe mods on propper rented servers you may need a third ( 3rd ) .cfg file in your online cod2 folder so there will be one in your main , and one in your awe folder and one in the cod2 folder ( outside of main ).

All the above works with all servers and the best thing to do is take a deep breath and do it step by step and check it,i know the bit i typed at the top is for home servers but its no diff on rented machines..

oooooooooh before i go make sure that everything is in your mod fs folder and make sure in the awe.cfg all th // are removed from the mods you want to activate ( example )

// remove the // to activate the punishments

//crush
//blow up
//whatever
//blowjob

see what i meen remove the // so the mods you want running will work , i would recommend using awe3b5 for cod2 and sometimes you might need to type in the command line +set fs_game awe3b3 to make 3b5 work .....

It would be better to request help there.

I think you're missing the client part of the mod (a0 or a1 or a2 or b0 or b1 or b2.iwd).

And i would NOT recommend AWE 3.0 beta 5 because it's very old and recent versions (3.2 being the latest) provide much more features.

wow i must be a noob lol i never heard of awe 3.2 on cod2 ,,, maybe its coz im on cod2 1.0 ???? maybe you could give me a link to the mod so i can run it , sounds good if its better than AWE 3b5 for cod2,, also on that link you provided it says you have to be a member ??? do you have a link were you dont have to sign up to web sites.
p.s try not to flame me too hard, my bro likes modding by the way aswell as mapping (im still learning) , if your on CoD2 1.0 go check out the vehicle mod from {UN} that was on CoD2 1.3 and now on CoD2 1.0 also with added bits and pieces. THANKS {UN}[read][moon][read]

If you're on 1.0, forget about AWE 3.2.
It works only with COD2 1.3.

I still don't get why some people stay with 1.0, but it's your choice...

You have to be a member, yes, there's nothing I can do.
Bell (the original AWE creator) left the community early this year and asked RGN to continue AWE support.
I'm operating from there.
Anyway, nearly all my COD2 related releases can be also found there : http://latruffe666.free.fr

About the {UN} vehicles mod, I highly respect this groundbreaking project, but I don't find it very fun to play.
Anyway, it's not their fault but IW's, I mean the lack of native vehicles or decent SDK to make advanced mods.

Thats cool we were on 1.3 but its very dead compared to 1.0 there has been a massive flood of new players and peeps that have gone back to 1.0 from 1.3 i suspect its coz of punk buster on 1.3 and that , some peeps that loose there key codes or have illegal copys (burn them noobs [wink]) but other than redirect for download theres not much diffrence , i meen you can use the 1.3 stock maps on 1.0 as i myself have put them both in a single file ,email me if you want them ... converting is easy like that, its not hard its very easy ... as for the {UN} 1.3 vehicle mod we only converted it and made it much better less laggy vehicles new controls new weapons as well as the standard weapons a few hidden things new maps better than the libya map done by iw which has horrible texture probs (aswell as buildings floating off the ground hidden by dry grass), they will be released when my bro is happy with the updated *website* and also other bits (will be released when he feels everyone is bored of the things that are on there at the min) anyway nice chatting to you, keep in touch [wave]

I don't know if this will help, but when we had a CoD2 server, I just made one config file with all the server settings, including all the AWE cvar's (which I put in first, and the standard CoD2 cvar's after). I was never able to make multiple config files work.

Don't forget the gamestate increase.
For mods it's the most important feature of the patch.
But obviously players who stay in 1.0 are either :
- non tech savvy people who don't know what a patch is,
- tech savvy hackers who know they will be caught by PB if they upgrade to 1.3.

You can make a main config file that calls other config files by simply executing "exec other_config_file.cfg".
I do this on my server : 1 main config file with all server dvars, that calls awe.cfg with all AWE dvars and many gametype specific config files with gametype dvars (eg htf.cfg, ctfb.cfg, esd.cfg).
