Hi guys, im having a problem with my grid file. Basically i made a grid file, then compiled the map succesfully, it calculated the grid lighting in the compile process fine. Once it had compiled i took the new bsp and popped it into an iwd with the relevant files. Loaded up cod and started the map in dm. So everything is working fine, the map loads and looks great, but, for some wierd reason the green dots that come up when you make a grid file reappear inthe game. I was very confused, so i exited the game, went to the maps/mp folder and lo and behold there was a new grid file in there (i could tell it was new because it was very small). So i deleted the new grid file, reopened cod andthe same thing happened again, the green dots came back up. I exited cod again and yet again, there was a new grid file in the mp folder again very small and definitely wasnt the last one i had just deleted. Ive tried two more times, both with the same result.

So my problem is, every time i go to load this map from the iwd it automatically creates a new grid file in the mp folder and brings up the dots ingame. (The compiler isnt even open during this whole time). Any suggestions? Im rather stumped.

No the exe i use to start cod is standard, i havent added any extra commands onto it. I did a fast compile first, checked it and it was fine no dots or anything, reloaded the compiler and made a grid file, made a backup of the gridfile (thankgod) and then did a final compile. The compile worked properly i watched it calculate the gridfile into it. Everything went fine, just the same as the other maps i have made which havent had this problem.

I put the complete gridfile into the mp folder and now when i load it up the dots around the level have dissapeared yet i dont want it to be writing to the gridfile everytime i open the map, and i cant understand why simply opening the iwd would make it open the gridfile. there must be a command thats gone in somewhere but i have no idea where!

ok i just checked my other maps and its doing it in all of them as well so you are probably right big mal, everytime i go into a map the dots cme up and it starts creating a new gridfile for the map in the maps/mp folder. How do i go about deactivating this command?

ok its definitely what you said big mal, i just went into a server and it brought up the dots in the server, so i couldnt see what was going on lol.

This only started happening after i compiled this latest map with the grid file, i was playing the game online normally last night and up until i added the gridfile today the game was running fine. What setting have i changed and where so i can change it back?
