The key question is (at least for those of us willing to buy a legit copy of Maya): Will Maya 8.5 (the current version), work to create Maya version 6 type files that would be compatible with making models for COD2? Can anyone answer this?

Weel I can be short about it: NO. I tried it with version 7 but didn't work with me.

The problem is, the export plugin you need (which comes with the tools) works only with Maya 6. So you need this plugin for Maya 8.5 which isn't available.

Okay thanks, I was afraid of that. So is there any way of still buying a legit working copy of Maya 6 so I can use the needed plug-in?
