HI if you delete the mp3 there will be no music no problem ,people joining will have to redownload pk3 youi cant avoid that
if you have edited the gsc properly it will play the new ambient sound, if you havnt it wil play nothing
also you wil be reducing the pk3 file size dramaticly as most mp3s at least 3mb and cannot be further compressed this should please clients [less time waiting for download]

No it works fine but anyone that already had the map previously is now stuck in a loop [cry] as they can't download the new file because they already have one. and it's the wrong one.

if u delete the mp3, there will be an error message saying could not read sound file blah blah blah
but if u edit the soundaliases and delete the mp3, then it will work

doing the way i said CORRECT then it WILL work, i hav done this way a lot and it works

its not a good idea to get people to re-download the edited map pk3, as thay will get a lot of unpure client detected, and thay wont be able to join servers

i cant find park-a-lot to give an example, post a link plz

Well spoken I agree with you 100 percent! I didn't want to anger anyone just wanted to change the sound in the map. I did what you said by going into and editing the ambient play. and that is where my trouble started. I don't use the map that dirty dog uses but how about Zzz_ColombiaStorming[Final].pk3 it has an odd sound that is really cool at first but on your nerves later.

I made a mistake the above is wrong i found a website that has this map http://www.maps-n-mods.org/index.php
go to downloads that says QL_MP_CoD_All the maps are in alphabitical order only one catch you must register to download it

If you create a new pk3 called z_zzzzzzzzzzmusicmute or something, and put silent mp3s and wavs to replace the ones in the maps you want to silence in there, and put it on your server, that should work and won't cause conflicts with the original map

Or can do the same with gscs - put modified gscs in the new pk3 that replace the ambient sound to that of brecourt or whatever. You may have to include an MP weapon in the PK3 to make the mod a forced download.

I don't think there is a way to mute the music client side, it would probably count as cheating anyway as you'll be able to hear people moving around where as they can only hear the music
