I upgraded my computer to Vista last night and just as I suspected, Radiant doesn't work on it. Does anyone know of a work-around or where I can get a Vista compatible version?

thank you all so much!

I suspect some resourceful person will figure out a way to emulate OpenGL on Vista in the future. As for the present, I don't think there's anything you can do.

It's funny. Direct X 10 is just about the only reason I can think of to upgrade to Vista. The lack of OpenGL is the biggest reason I can think of not to.

I second Filbert. you should take your windows vista installation and use an AN-M24 Incendiary gernade to insure that you never see it again. then install with windows 2000, best operating system out there. i say this because of the 'new' operating systems, 2000 is the fastest, and cheapest when it comes to hardware. Personally i like to run a dual operating systems of both 98 and 2000.

Solution: if you really want to keep VISTA, then reformat, install a newer version of windows, the install vista.(you may also want to make a 5g partition for future installiltions.

run radiant on the older version, play games on the new one!

Thanks guys. I knew there probably wasn't a Vista comp. version out there... Vista is great, except that I didn't know it didn't support OpenGL... [banghead]

My version is upgrade so I upgraded from XP, but I've read about a perfectly legal way to do a full install using an upgrade key so maybe I'll do that... I might just buy another hard drive to keep them completely separate.

Thanks everyone!!

UPDATE!

MS loaded its own drivers for my 7950GT. Everytime I started up Radiant it told me OpenGL extension GL_ARB_texture_compression was not found.

So I googled it and read some non-related issues, but still about the extension and decided to download and try Nvidia's driver. After installing, Radiant works perfectly!!! Wahoo!

So if you upgrade to vista, use your GPU's manufacturer's driver and not Microsofts!

Hmph. I run Vista on my computer just fine?

I posted in the FAQ's thread that you need to Run As Administrator because Vista is annoying like that. But by the sounds of the OpenGL comments that isn't your problem.

Still, I do run Vista and Radiant perfectly, so there must be something you are missing or a difference.
