hi all, well the subject name says it all

i replaced my 27" monitor to a 17" giant thing and now my BF games won't load.
the monitor i am using atm is the same resolution as hte other i had as if i change it to 800x600 the icons are too big. even if i change it to 800 x 600 and restart my pc the resolution will go bac kto the 1024 x 768 status.

why aint they working?

I have to wonder if the game has a different resolution set for you... one that your monitor doesn't support.

Try this and I hope it will work for you...

Open windows file explorer and head over to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Battlefield 2142\

Rename the folder there from Profiles to something else. The idea is to change this folder so the game can't find it and not delete it in case this doesn't work. This folder contains your game settings.

Now when you restart the game, I am hoping that the game will recreate these folders and files for you so you can make the necessary changes.

If this fails, then change that Profiles folder back to the original name and we'll try a few things from there.

You dont need to rename the folder.. do this

Go to My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default
copy Video.con from there to
My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 he will ask if you want to replace.. say Yes.. and should be resolved.

Or.. open (USING NOTEPAD)
My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001\Video.con
and search for "VideoSettings.setResolution"
modify it to look like this.

VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@70Hz
Save and run the game.

true... but that is provided that screen resolution is the only factor causing the issue. I don't think that any other settings would affect the HUD a the games start, but I don't know that.

ok its allmost their lol.

changed the file name to eggs lmao loaded the game it took a while to get going the nit did perfectly, came up to the loging in section and it did not have my origional username or owt, nothing at all.

so i treid to change the eggs back to Profiles and it says:

Cannot rename Eggs: A file with the name you specified allready exists. Specify a different file name.

so my accounts have gone for bf2142 now what ?

also i can't find hte bf2142 directry in windows explorer but i can find the files needed in my documents :S

yeah. That is why I suggested to rename the entire profiles directory. There is a config file that tells the game where to find your profiles so it thinks the profile still exists. Try the advice by eSkiSo.

When you renamed the profiles folder and the opened the game it recreated the folder.. so you need to delete the new folder and the rename the eggs folder to Profiles again
and then do what i told you before (on the other post)

or.. go to the EGGS folder and copy this to the new profiles folder:
from -> Eggs\0001\ to Profiles\0001\
Everything less Video.con just copy all but not the Video.con and replace them on the profiles\0001

this is daft, i just did what you suggested about the other guy and now it aint working again ! iel just install it again n hope it sorts its self out

ok guys its all working now, just gotta instal all of the bloody patches :(, dunt suppose any 1 can tell me the first ever aptch number???

the latest patch is all you need. I think it's 1.20.
