I've been practicing making my own texture using photoshop 7.0 following the tutorials on this site.
Ok, I got the alpha chanel texture working and I can see thru it, but the thing that I don't like is, that the rest of the texture, what it supouse to be solid, it looks transparent, not a real solid area. I've been doing a kind of walking-chainlink, but the solid areas looks transparent, and I can't shoot thru the gaps and I wanna be able to shot thru the gaps. How can I do that?

you van shoot through the gaps by making the brush out of no_draw instead of caulk and then texturing only the visible sides. Caulk makes the brush solid.

ok, I've tried without luck.

I did as you say, using the NO DRAW, NO DRAW/NOT SOLID, NO DRAW DECALL, TEXTURES in tools but it didn't work, still the same thing, I can not shot through it.



And the solid areas still looking transparent.

Did you make the brush no_draw and them by Ctrl + Shift + Left Mouse select all the four sides of the brush and add the texture there.. leaving the middle as no_draw...

..try making a concrete brush inside the original one .. something like this:

Can someone explain that to me ? 'cause I've already tried to place a concrete texture between but it covers the gaps in the metal sidewalk.

What I want
I want the metal texture that I made look solid, not transparent as it look right now.

-I wanna be able to shot through the gaps.

In the texture tutorial/ 103- 104, explain how to use the alpha chanell and thats what I did, but it seems to be that theres something else to make this kind of EFX.

If somebody can point me in the right direction , I will appreciate it.

Hey "The_Caretaker"..., Could you give some light to fix my issue, all the rest it didn't work. I've been trying in many ways, but always got the same result; A transparent texture and I can't shot through the gaps. How you guys get that to work?
