I got Vista for my pc and when it was down installing and stuff, I looked around i said "ok cool" then i went to plug in my internet cord but internet didn't work, I tried everything but other people it works fine because there network card is built into the motherboard!!

i am just going to wait for the service pack then they might fix it

Have you tried modifying the TCP/IP in the Configuration windows of your connection (LAN 1, etc.) and set it to automatic?

It's not the Vista that's stupid.

Heck, Windows 98 is better than Vista.

You could try to NOT run with the computer automatically setting the ip. Enter your ip manually along with the proper sub and gateway and see if that helps.

Also check to see if the Vista firewall is on or it you have a software firewall working too. Also do you have a router that you are using with this computer? Lets not just point fingers at vista and call it a piece of crap until possibilities have been explored.

Radiant is a piece of crap and yet we have for the most part got it working correctly so lets give vista a chance. Mine works pretty good so maybe Im just biased.

It's NOT that the internet is not working, it won't even detect a network card.

Add in card I would guess? What make? Did you fire off a request to the manufacturer of the card? Did you do a pre-installation survey on your system with the nifty little program that microsoft made available to everyone prior to installing Vista? If so what do it say about your nic?
