Hi well, I guss I am asking if there is any one out there that knows how to map and would be up to the chalange of helping me be able to put my ideas to maps. I am geting better then I ust to be but I can get about as far as well I dont know is the thing. Dont konw were I am going wrong. I have made a what I think to be as a cool map but when I go to compile it it dont compile and dose not show up in the MP folder. I have watched foyls video over and over again, also to the point of doing the same xact thing he is doing and not geting no were. So is there any one out there that can help me. may be by geting on a Vent, TS, or maybe msn msn. If so plese say so. or give me advice.

Do you have the latest version of DirectX (9.0c I believe)

mate if u draw up plans to a map then send it to me i will make it ....but only if all the drawings show me what ya want..

a)No mods in the cod2/main folder. Only the default mods that come with CoD2.


b) Do you get any compile errors? at all?


c) Have you tried reinstalling the map and mod tools?

post your compile log.. there are lots of reasons why your map might not be compiling.

How to get your compile log:

when your .bat runs...it opens a command window.


In your command window, before pressing any key to close the window,
rightlclick and select "Select All". The text will then turn white. Press "Enter".
You've now got it copied to your clipboard and can paste it anywhere you want.

or:

Before pressing a key the first time click the icon in the upper left of the cmd window
click edit --> select all and press enter. This has copied the log to the clipboard
for you to paste to a text file or preferably to a forum reply for help you do this
for all three times copy paste...copy paste...copy paste

I now am geting a cod2map.exe unable to loacate.
this application has failed to start becasue d3dx9_27.dll was not found. re-installing the application may fix this problem. and once that shows up it kills all my virtual memory on my com and I have to restart to do much of any thing. I am running a Gforce 5200. AMD procsor 2200+. with 512 MB ram. I know I know not good but its what I have and I can play thats what I need. but I would like to make a simple arena style map jsut for my clan to messaround in and rifle one another up. was unable to coppy any of those things caretaker. Vistrum, what are standard mods and what are not. were do I put them and still be able to work them. and when I was abble to see the cmd. window it went so fast I could not tell if I had any errors. and if I uninstall and reinstall is my map gone. Bodyguard if I have to I do that. but I relay liek to do it my sle fI mean I know how to do some of it jstu soem pointers is all I need. and how to fix teh prob I am having now. and teh latest version of Direct yes I do.

Normally the D3DX9.dll is just part of DX9 and you'll have to reinstall DX9.

Are your map and mod tools located in your Call of Duty folder? If not then they need to be installed into your Call of Duty folder.

You may have to change the file path within the compiler (I havent used the cod2 tools in a long while as a) my comp cant support em, and b) cant play cod2 anymore) so I dont know how to do that, I just remember it being possible.

Um..... is it posible I put my map on here in the site some were. as in the map prj. jsut teh prj part of it not compiled or any thing. jsut what I have made and have one of you guys look at it or try to recreate it for me sorry. this may be a relay dum Idea I just realy want to be able to have a map that I have made and am able to say I made that and have Clan members and other play it and be like yeah thats a fun map you know.
