Can you code in the maximum brightness a map can be?

I have a night mp map where the darkness is a element of the strategy in the map. My club tested it out and it was noted that by increasing brightness under options, the map became bright as day and gave that player a huge bonus.

So I was wondering if it was possible to script a "max brightness" or something with ambient worldspawn values so that players cant jack their brightness up to exploit the map.

I'm not sure how brightness works and what options it effects so any help would be appreciated.

Or if this isn't possible could you have a script that looks at a player's brightness and say something like

brightness_check();
if [player.brightness] > ###
print "This map is meant to be played below brightness ###, will [player(s) names] please reduce your settings"
wait(30)
loop

in the chat for all to see?

I know I wrote this wrong but you get the idea.

lol - that would be a good thing - and really - i wish more mappers would consider that when they start mapping...

what i mean is alot of gamers turned mappers have tweaked their gamma settings up to gain an edge and then want to create a night map - yet make it too dark because they forgot to turn their gamma back down to default when mapping.

if you come up with a code that works - please post it as it would be a great addition to almost any map

No matter if you find a code to add to the map for the brightness ( gamma ) setting. It can also be setup outside the game by the video software....

i found when playing coduo that on night maps i would change my brightness and i could play like a dark map thus letting me spot victims easily..then cod2 came and i have done the same i dont know if this is a cheat but it is a smart advantage....

Well its a map for a tactical realism server, so I would that the players would respect it (it is SUPPOSED to be a night map...if I wanted a day map I would have made one). I just want a script that politely asks people to turn their settings down if set to high.

in your PunkBuster config you can kick players when a dvar doesn't fall in the required specs.. so... if the dvar for brightness is set too high, they get kicked.

go to evenbalance.com or punksbusted.com, the first one is the makers of PB, they have manuals, the second is a forum where people will know how to set it up.

Thanks a lot, do you know if this is map specific or can it be made server specific?
