Does anyone know what might the average time this full compile might take? It's been sitting at the same spot for the last 5 days and I keep wondering if it's not working or what. It only took 3 days to get up this point and hasn't moved since last Wednesday (5 days ago).

Here's the tail of the log right now:

The machine I'm doing this on is an AMD Athlon 1800+ (1.6 G I think?) w/512MB Ram and Windows 2000

Windows Task Mgr:
CPU: 99%
CPU Time: 191:xx:xx
Mem Usage 178,416 K

I figured if it was doing something, the Mem Usage would change, but hasn't at all in the last few days. Also, the HD activity light blinks fast once every 3 seconds...

Am I just being impatient or is it stuck and I should try another machine?

FYI, a quick compile on my machine takes about an hour for this map. On this machine that's doing the full compile, a quick compile will take 4-5 hours. My CPU is a 2100+, which isn't even that much faster than the 1800+. Must be because my machine is running XP Pro?

I've had to wait longer than your waiting on alot higher spec comptuer. And i had more detail brushes than you can shake a big stick at.
Your visdata size is pretty large, you may wanna try and reduce it with more detailed brushes if you can. As its doing that last stage of -vis the mem usage wouldnt change, well it didnt for me anyway, when mine got to this stage.
Depends how long your prepered to wait, really.

I have recently setup another machine soley for compiling, regardless how long it takes. Theres only so much you can do to reduce -visdata size without cutting huge parts of your map away.

Yeah, it's got lots of buildings, so I've just about made as many detailed brushes as I can or else I couldn't portal! I think it's going to take awhile because I've got huge mountains made of detailed terrain. [biggrin]

I think terrain takes longer on -vis aswell, although im only going by maps i have made, so it may not be fact. But a HUGE town map i made compiled 3 days quicker than a map of roughly the same size but with lots of terrain.

If you'd like to take a look at it just to see what it looks like, here's the old version.

Be warned, this first version was done with no portaling, lots of pooling/other messes, and was done with a quick compile. This is the same version that has been in rotation for the last several months on my gameserver. Can't wait for the final one to take its place!
