Hy to all my fellow mappers, been awhile I had to ask for assistance but I have a doozie.

I have tunnels under the terrain and they show as shadows through terrain.
Tried a combo of words looking for already been discussed but to no avail, so, sorry if it has been up before.

Another question...in the square shadow, see the four lighter "dots/circles" in the corners? Those are lights and I can't for the light of me (haha) stop them from shining through terrain also, any suggestions on the shadows and lights showing?

See pic...

If you take the lights out does the shadow go away as well?

Maybe try bumping up the ambient and minlight settings a little.
As for the lights showing through from your underground tunnels, try putting a brush textured with occluder between the tunnels and the underside of the terrain.

I would say changing the Worldspawn should be a last resort.

Do the tunnels have water in them? I've seen this happen many times, when there is terrain above water (like a road over a bridge) the water causes bad lighting on the terrain.

This might be a longshot, but this is just another idea to try out.. Save a new copy of your map and (if you're not running out of extra gamestate) make all the brushes/meshes that make up the tunnels script_brushmodels. I have no idea if this will work, but it might.

Okay, the occluder texture seems to have stopped the light bleed.
Changing ambient, minlight did nothing for the shadows.
No water in tunnel but I do have terrain patch.

Script_brushmodel, will try later.

Okay got my problems fixed.

Lights, the occluder took care of, thnx for the tip Grassy.

As for the shadows, tough to figure out.

Did the script_brushmodel on tunnels (not the tunnel path).
Shadows still showed through.

I went back to regular old brushes for tunnels and removed the tunnel paths.
Shadows disappeared.

Had to do with the paths (as in walking surface). I had made them of terrain patches, so I changed them to brushes.
Shadows reappeared. [crazy]

Went back to terrain patch, as it would allow manipulation of the path for character rather than flat walking surface. I noticed that my terrain patches were "wider" than the tunnels themselves, so I brought the sides inline with the tunnel walls.
Shadows disappeared....almost.

Had 1 path that because the sun direction shines down on, the shadow shown through, until I cut one end (the end by the sun) off and replaced with brushes.

Hope that explains it, incase somebody else runs into a similar problem.

In my first map, scrap scuffle, I had underground tunnels made entirely of terrain meshes. I encased them in caulk brushes for portalling. Perhaps putting brushes around them would help as well.
