how do you add monsters that attack you even if u dont attack them 1st, on my map if i dont shoot they wont attack me, they run off in the other direction lol.

Lol... My monsters do the same...Maybe we are too strong for them : )

Try to add this key to your monsters

KEY = ambush
Value = 1

This is not very effective but they attacks befor you :)

another question now, can u make monsters attack each other? if u remember ack 2 the old doom games different type of monster fought each other, u cud run round the room n activate all the monsters then let them fight it out between themselves, can u do that in doom3?

1) I'm not sure, I never saw any of the monsters attacking each other when I played the game.

2)In other games monsters often attack eachother because one got in the way and they retaliate.

3) I don't know.

Since I didn't see this happen in the official game, I have to say that I don't know either.

It might require some extra scripting somewhere with the ai.

im talkin about doom 1 up to final doom, i am 100% sure monster attack each other in final doom, once there all the monsters are activated they fight each other, e.g, imps fight shot gun guys etc, if u have the game have a quick go 2 see what i mean, i saw something under the monsters entity list about attacking higher ranked monsters or sumthng along those line just i cud neva figure out how 2 use it properly.


p.s thats how i completed final doom, let them fight amungst themselves lol, then what eva monsters r left from the fight i finish off lmao (chicken i know)

If you look at your monster entities theres a lot of key values that can be used...

one such value is:

enemy

and you set the value to the name of the monster for this one too attack when its activated. I've not tried it but the usage saids it can be used...

Weird, my monsters attack me as soon as they see me. All I did was drop them in. I didn't have to change a single setting.

The Doom1\2 enemys only attacked each other if one hit the other while trying to hit you.That was always funny to watch. It was only between different types of monsters though. I don't think I ever saw a shotgun guy turn around and bust a shot at another shotgun guy for hitting him and it certainly did not happen with the same demon types. But if an imp hit a shotgun guy he would deffinatley fire at the imp. However if you or another enemy had dealt more dammage to the shotgun guy he would still continue to attack who ever had inflicted the most dammage. Those guys had so little health it rarely got to that point though.

I don't know if thats the case with Doom3 I haven't been able to put enough monsters together to see what they do if one accidentaly gets hit. You can make certain monsters enemys that will attack each other on sight using the enemy key. Its pretty funny watching a fat zombie with a wrench try to take down a hell knight. And since you can assign enemys I think you can even have zombies and same monsters fight. Hmmm I wonder who would win between a fat wrench zombie and a skinny flashlight zombie... I think I will make a lil boxing arena just to pit different monsters against each other ahahahaha!!

WOW! That fat wrench guy is a beast!! He can whoop an Imps ass!

In Foyleman's TUT on breakable glass he placed the monster facing away from him. It would not attack until he shined a light on him. Maybe hide the monster in the darkness and face it toward your player pathway. So as he enters a room the monster sees you before you see the monster?

Just a thought.
