The book Half-Life 2 Mods For Dummies was released this week and is available on Amazon. I'd like to say it's available in most book stores, but the truth is that the book stores have to decide to carry it on their own. My experience is that book stores generally don't carry game modding books of any sort. So, you would have to ask your book store to order it. I'd also like to point out that I (foyleman) am not the only MODSonline member that participated in the making of this book. Stryder was also an integral part of putting this book together. I am no longer alone in the realization that making a book is not much fun and more work than it sounds. lol. Finally, don't let the name of the book fool you. The publishers only allow me a set number of pages to write. This means that I very quickly run out of pages before I run out of content to write about. So the book is primarily focused on mapping more than any other form of modding, although other aspects of the game are covered in general. Heck, we could have called this Half-Life 2 Mapping for Dummies. hehe. |

Personally I love to write. I have a book on amazon.com also, but my sales and marketing talents are like non-existant.
I really like the "Dummies" series of books. They are well written in most of the case. I have several and have referred to them often.
I know what you mean about the book stores. My book is already in barnes and noble.com, amazon.com and borders.com, but just try and get one single store to buy it? Yuck. Got a few to order some books, but I just can't sell worth a hill of beans, in a country without beans, .....
Would have been nice to have the book on Call of Duty though.
Oh well.
I hope the manual on Radiant Editor I am writing proves to be of help to someone.

If / when I do more mapping and modding tutorials, it will be done in video form. I much more enjoy showing and describing the processes rather than writing them. I also prefer watching over reading.
