I have a website which is going to distribute patches, demos and other media, but i am stuck which file format i should upload them in.
I know windows already can open .zip without downloading any files but .rar is a better compression i just can't decide. Cant make a Poll so just post below the File format you prefer and why if possible

In winrar you can use the wizard, and you can select to create a sef extracting exe file. Maybe use that.

By comarison the exe was 6.23mb and the rar was 6.18mb

rar has been known to mess up iwd files for games. Therefore choose zip.

zip is also recommended to use for cross platform games. Some linux platforms cant use rar. Basically depends on the user aswell though.

Some of the files are already compressed, the linux 1's in the format that linux uses and the windows files are in .rar this wont include any .iwd files. I already have uploaded 1gig in .rar so i may have to start again
