I've made a simple map for q3 a few years back and now I'm working on MP map for D3 and I have a few general questions.

1. Are there any features which shouldn't be in a Multiplayer map? (In farcry for example you could not have physicalized models in MP maps)

2. How are elevator / Lifts done? I've checked around but I couldn't find a tutorial... A video like the ones I've already learned alot from would be nice [wink]

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Make a simple brush and right-click to assign a func_static fuction to it. (like doors your static brush must touch your lift... i'm not really sure... ;) )

Make another simple brush and right-click to assign a func_plat function. (rightclick->func->func_plat)
This is your lift.

In the Inspector window, you must tell the height of the movement (sorry i'm french) and the direction Up or Down

It seems like you must place your lift in upper position and assign a UP movement to make it start from the bottom and then go up...

So... Hope you understand my english :)

Thanks for the tips but seems to be a bit more difficult than the other basic stuff...

Hhhhh....

I didn't get it [confused]

I couldn't get past making the brushes for the elevator.

How do i do the below? I couldn't find where to make the script_brushmodel...

Select them all and right click in the 2d window and make them a script_brushmodel.

Unfortunately, the quality of picture isn't good enough so I can't read which one to select

I think I should make you a tutorial tomorrow since the one that was linked in this discussion is for Call of Duty and not for Doom 3. I'll make a video tutorial.

What kind of elevator are you looking for. The one-stop lift is pretty simple and I can blow through that tutorial in a couple hours. The multi-stop elevator may take some time. I haven't looked into something like that for Doom 3 yet.

tutorial is done, but hmmm....

I have two files here. The first goes over lifts and the second goes over elevators.

I think I will offer them as two downloads instead of one 200mb download.

damn these files get big.

Be up in a few more minutes.
