I look at it this way: I'm boring. Pure and simple. I have no life, I don't fight crime, I don't make crime, I'm not doing anything illegal, and I don't know anyone who does. Yeah, the FBI, CIA, and whoever else could know everything I do, say, and think but so what? What do I care? If they find my insignificant and minuscule life worthy of that time and effort then they need a new hobby. Or I need to start a sitcom.
I'm sure the same is for you Cobalt. Unless your really a government employee whose job it is to spread conspiracy theories, sound like a total wack-job, and make everyone else think your nuts and that what you say is also nuts thus making sure that the average person won't believe any of the things you say even though they may be true.
Are you? |

I feel that way as well, but I think we must be cognizant of the fact that there is a danger in thinking that way. For me, if there are cameras at 'dangerous' intersections of cities, that is no problem at all. |

Quote (FliX @ Dec. 08 2006, 2:25 am) | people that think like that are going to wake up in "1984" sometime and wonder how it ever got this far. |
With recent current event topics like "Net Nutrality" and "Data Retention" and the Government asking Router manufacturers to put Backdoors in their Router's to Spy on citizens without asking for a court order to "WireTap" the persons ISP account. "BIG BROTHER is already HERE" ! |

Quote (Captain Seavey @ Dec. 08 2006, 12:51 pm) | Thing is, the question of personal freedom vs public safety is about as old as human civilization. At the heart of the matter, its all about where you draw the line. And, contrary to what both "sides" will want you to believe, its not a simple, black and white issue. What I always find hilarious is that everybody and their mother in this world is absolutely, positively certain that wherever they happen to think that line should be drawn is the absolute gospel truth of the matter, and how anyone with a different opinion is so obviously foolish. |
You left out how everyone who complains usually wants the line to move in the way that would have prevented whatever happened to them. Ex: People want to know where their loved ones are when they go missing, but don't want anyone to know where they are when they do something illegal. |
