Well its obviously done by paper manufacturers. Think about it: if we explore more space, we're more likely to find intelligent life out there. If we encounter other intelligent beings, people will need to learn their language. That means phrase books. Phrase books are, of course, made of paper.

Really, how do you people not see this stuff?

(Oh, and yeah, if that's really flowing water, its insanely awesome.)

Well it's on CNN now so it's got some viability behind it.

yeah. its old news.
but. if you noticed,  NASA has been trying to drum up support for a permanent "Moon Base" this week :old8: and of course,  a story like this goes a long way

*cough* the bush administration *cough*

when they get the green light to build said moon base,  it will be just like the kennedy "..before this decade is done" speech, which, btw, was just a black-budget front for developing WMD's.LOL

(ie: history has revealed, in retrospect,  that the "space race" gave us all the technology we needed for ICBM's and the inevitable "Cold War" that followed.  which was exactly what both sides were after in the first place, btw.  nobody was actually trying to get to the moon (hence the popular conspiracy that says we didn't go); the Administration at the time just wanted a way of getting funding from congress to design a specific missile to go up into orbit and then come back down and land an object the size of a volkswagon onto a pre-determined target-area: the saturn rocket was the first functional ICBM.  the command module was even designed to be ~roughly the same size as a 1960's-era nuclear warhead.  and the apollo program was just a way of selling it to the american people so nobody would question the fact that the US was building WMD's)

*shrug*

--> according to the official account of history,  the US didn't HAVE an (offical) "missile-development" program for ICBM's; they never tested intercontinental missiles by firing them over the sea of japan like North Korea did last year (and got criticized for); they didn't HAVE TO.

the appolo program WAS the program for testing/developing the intercontinental missiles that would ultimately fuel the Arms Race - and when that technology was finally developed..
..we STOPPED going to the moon! (LOL!)
and concentrated our efforts on waging the Cold War instead (coindidence?)

anyway --> now that the republicans have lost control of congress, its actually kinda necessary for them to have a(nother) "black-budget" project that will enjoy political support AND give them a bottomless pool of funding that they can hide from congress
(so they can (continue to) implement their plans for the New World Order ™ mwahahah!)

yeah...and the Canada Arm?  You think that was developed for space?  Actually, it was developed to get people from Halifax to Toronto once Quebec breaks away!

Meh, maybe it was, but ya know what?  The moon is borring.  I'm sure we stopped going because there's nothing there to see.  But now that technology has developed far enough for us to actually LIVE in space for extended periods of time, (not to mention we need more resources/space) it's become something we'd like to pursue.

Then again if you notice most consumer technological breakthroughs came from the military.

The microwave - Radar
TV - Espionage
The Computer - Artillery firing
The Internet - Communication and Coordination
Nuclear Power - Nukes

The list goes on.

However, I fail to see what the Bush administration is going to get out of building a moon base besides a place where any country can easily observe your movements with just a telescope.  Unless it's the dark side of the moon, in which case they'll just launch some satellites.  Big fricken whoop.  ####, they could do it on the ISS now if they want.  Just not with lots of power requirements.

Also let's face it, in 2012 Bush will be long gone so I continue to fail to see what he hopes to accomplish.  If it's rocket deployment (ie. Star-wars) then he's got a problem since any country with sufficient technology can track every object in orbit.  Secrecy just doesn't work in space.

I thought the TV was invented by some farmer...

And what's the big deal if there is water?  Let me know when they find hot Martian water nymphs or something...
