| Quote (Agent007 @ Dec. 06 2006, 8:36 am) | Oh, silent film... I thought it said student, and I was ignoring it... But I love silent films! I can't watch it right now, but I'll try to do it tonight (how long is it?). It had better be good...
I've been thinking about how cool it would be to make a silent short. |
Hmm... I would say that about most student films which are usually terrible and really avant garde, I think that most of my stuff can be enjoyed by a larger audience, including most of you people in England or former Brittish colonies. I'm not making art, just entertainment. That's a good quote, save it. |

Well, I finally watched it. That was really good, man. I'm very impressed! There were a few typos in the title cards (and more dialog than you'd normally see in a silent movie), but other than that, it was pretty funny, and the effects were great. A few questions... Who did the music? It was spot on. And what program/effects did you use to get the grain/camera jitter. That was great. Really good. |

Luke Polidora did my music, he is a friend of mine and graduated Full Sail University as a Audio Designer, all the music was midi, btw. Umm... Yea, I found the errors after the thing was done, but that's okay, since it was made in the 1920s area I said it was because of the dust bowl/market crash that caused the spelling errors. The effects are from iMovie, trashy compared to ones I could have done in Magic Bullet with Combustion or After Effects, but iMovie was decent as long as my frame rate was 15fps or lower. I used Adobe Priemere to edit and composite the train stuff, and softimage XSI 5.2 for the train, lighting sucks on it, but you can't tell much due to the grain. Thanks for the support, tell your friends. I want this project to get more hits than Seagal on my youtube. |

Yeah, well on a silent you can get away w/ midi music. Heh. I wouldn't even have noticed if you didn't say anything. I always like looking at the spelling variations in title cards... Stuff like 'to-night' (presumably before 'tonight' became the normal usage), and stuff... And all the politically incorrect stuff always amuses me. And there was this one Gloria Swanson film where she's pretending to be an exiled Russian princess, and a woman comes up to her and that lady's title card was written in Cyrillic... (which Gloria obviously couldn't understand) I did notice the lighting on the train, but like you said, the grain covers it. The other cool thing about silent movies is the style. I love the cars and seeing NY and other cities from the 20's. And the clothing/hairdos the women wore back then were awesome. |
