The registry on my brothers computer is corrupted. The computer was just started up yesterday after being reformatted.

It keeps rebooting on its own, at seemingly random times. I already replaced the power supply so I know thats not the problem.

I downloaded a registry scan program, and figured out that the computer keeps rebooting when the program gets to the same point in the registry, so I figure something must be wrong there.

Does anyone know of a program that will run off of a boot CD without starting windows? I can't even run this program in safe mode without the computer restarting.

Reformat...again. Once the registry is broken, you really can't fix it.

Yes, a boot disk with FDISK and FORMAT :)

If you have *just* reformatted/reinstalled, it could be a sign that your installation media is corrupt, or possibly the hard drive is flaking out (bad sectors, etc.)  - assuming it's happening right after the install with no other apps installed (which could be causing the problem as well).

If it happens again right after re-install, I'd be looking at one of the above causes.

If it's a fresh install anyway (i.e. nothing to backup/lose), just reformat.  Even if there was a fix, it'd be best to start clean anyway.  Since all it means is another hour or so of setup... No major backing up or anything...
