Wassup,

So I'm playing on a server for a while and then my game freezes up. I get the little data cable unplugged icon flashing in the bottom corner of my screen, so I think its my DSL going out (it randomly does sometimes) so I minimized out to check, but my connection was still up. Basically I'm stuck in the game, cant move, cant respawn, the sound is working (I could hear these new sound bytes being spammed that the servers clan installed), video is working (could see the chat scrolling), but I couldnt respawn, I couldnt chat and the data cable unplugged icon was still in the bottom corner. The only thing I could do was leave the game. Once I got back to the game menu (which was supposed to be showing the current list of CTF game servers) it showed an empty list for "Smear The Queer" game servers!!!?? This is a very odd game crash. I have never seen this before, and I have been playing SOF II for a long time on various servers. I couldn't reconnect for a couple minutes but when I finally did the same crash happens to me after Im playing for a little while. This is the first time it has ever happened to me and it happened twice last night, so I just stopped playing. It was just too strange...It was almost like someone was ####ing with me...the whole Smear the Queer thing when i got back to the menu...and the fact that my internet wasnt down, my connection to the server was fine, but my game was messed up.

Seems almost kinda fishy...or am i paranoid?  

Has this happened to anyone else?? Do you know what it is or how it happened? Could it have something to do with the new sounds they installed on the server?

Sounds to me like your upload stream didn't work for a while. So your ISP had a bit of a problem. I have had that too once or twice, it's very awkward, but nothing to worry about.
Snear the Queer is just another custom made gametype, that probably is built in a map or so. You can just click on it so you get your list of CTF servers back.

So don't worry, and keep on gaming. Imho there's nothing to worry about!

I also get lock-ups at times while in the server. I can hear everything going on around me but the screen will freeze up, then my game crashs' to desktop an windows error appears saying (SOF2.exe as incountered a problem an needs to close). I just reboot an load it back up an works fine. I think my main reason for this is that on my gaming rig I run a ripped version of XP.

note: Upon release SOF2 was one of many games listed by Microsoft for having issues running on XP.

I have had my game freeze cause of my internet going down many times, that was not the problem. I have also had a similar error happen, where you are connected and the sound is working but your frozen. That error was associated with Windows XP, but that only happened to people on this clans second server which was running a different mod (that error was posted about in their forum by a clan leader, who created the mod). Their other server where the current problem happened to me, was running Roc Mod 2.1c and this error has never happened to me on any server running ROC mod.

Also, my gametype was changed (somehow by itself) to Smear The Queer after I exited the server cause I was froze. LoL, thats not supposed to just change on its own! BTW The server list for Smear The Queer is empty. I guess that game type isnt too popular...

Apparently no one has any idea about whats happening to me, which sucks. And now I have a bigger problem...

The same server where this happened to me, will not let me connect anymore. Everytime I try to connect it says I have been permanently kicked via punk buster from that server for a previous kick or ban!?!?

I have never cheated! I wouldnt know how in the first place. way too complicated for me to figure out.

Note: I didnt want to say this before, but I used to belong to the clan that runs the servers Im talking about. After I chose to leave that clan, my problems started occurring...Im not accusing anyone of anything, but it does seem kinda fishy dont you think?

Cantact and ask the person who handles the ban list of the specific server. He most likely has added your guid to the banlist of that server, and therefore the 'previous kick or ban' message. An admin can add your guid to his banlist if he wants, that doesn't mean someone has cheated.

This has nothing to do with the freeze/lag and snear the queer issue you had before. Snear the queer is most likely build in into a custom map you've downloaded somewhere (as you get 'nuke' when having bajo_V2.pk3).

smear the queer is probably a mod you got off some idiots server

delete all your files and reinstall  

remember not all mods work the way intended

the default game always does

also DSL is slow

what ya got 768 k down ? 138 k up ?

go with cable ..it's faster and more reliable ..does it cost a bit more ..umm yea but it's worth it

768 kilobyte  down and 138 kilobyte  up = dsl
6 meg down (thats 6000 kilobyte)and 768 k up = cable .. do the math

you lag may be your dsl connection hitching .. or improper .pak files loading as to the mods you have  chosen to install  by leaving downloads on within the game itself ..  

like i said  delete the game and reinstall
if you still get the same issiue on PB enabled servers then yea you had something installed that was a cheat ..so play on non pb enabled servers

I dont have any crazy pk3 files. I have my downloads turned off (always do). i have the same maps I always had (when my game ran right). I dont know how to cheat, dont have any cheats installed and never will. I recently reinstalled the game (more than once actually), because of a different problem. that was my virus scanner. After that my game ran fine, for a while anyways. Then the smear the queer #### happens after i get kicked off the same server ive always played on. the game has always run extremely well and my connection is fast. I took a break for a couple weeks cause i was pissed my game was crashing. when i come back, i am permanently banned from the server.

CHICANE is saying that the admin can add me to the ban list, even if i havent cheated. I did not know that and that is interesting to note. because i did post a technical help issue about my game crashing in the clans forum. no one replied and my post got deleted and then i got banned from the server. It was not a nasty post or a post accusing anyone of anything; but perhaps it bothered the admin? It was a legitimate problem I had and I wanted to post and ask about it. the same thing im doing here.

Yes! If someone has RCON/Admin of a server they can kick/ban anyone they want for any reason they want. It's like playing GOD - so beware some have that GOD complex with there Admin powers an tend to abuse them.

I changed my mind, some people definately have the GOD COMPLEX. I did nothing wrong and I sure as heck didnt cheat. I believe my game crashing problem is due to the buggy pk3 files I downloaded when joining the clan. I never download unneccesary pk3 files, but they added scopes to all the guns so I had to try it out.

Unfortunately, there is some errors in the files and your game can crash; and apparently in a nasty way that changes your server list to Smear the Queer. BTW when I try to connect to their servers I get kicked via Punk Buster (permanent ban) and my server list changes to Smear the Queer.


The clan perma banned me from their servers, they have deleted my topics and posts, deleted my forum account, and they blocked my computer from their forum (403 Access Forbidden). They just dont like me for some reason...Maybe they dont like my name. Maybe they have issues with black rappers and/or big people...I never got an explanation on why I got banned. Just some more rude comments. Pathetic...

(I chose not to mention this clans name for various reasons.)
