Hey people I have a technical issue that I cant figure out.

I have a Pentium 4 and SOFMP.exe usually loads and runs very fast and smooth (ie when the game says: "Loading..." or "Awaiting Gamestate..." while connecting to a server).

My Problem is: After reformatting my hardrive, reinstalling windows, reinstalling SOFII and the gold patch and the punkbuster updates. my game loads incredibly slow now ( like 20 times slower than it used to or worse!!?!) My favorite server disconnects me before I can even enter the game now for some reason and I dont know why. This is usually the only server I play on. Some other servers will let me connect, but again the loading time is excruciatingly slow...almost like my computer is busy doing something else...

Everything is updated, PB is enabled and my computer is reformatted, clean and fast. I have no idea whats wrong. (Single Player game runs fine.) Any ideas?? Please Help Me! I just wanna play my favorite game again!!

when does it load so slow? when loading a new map? In that case, check the r_picmip value in your sof2mp.cfg's. r_picmip 0 gives the highest graphics quality, but it comes with a lot longer loading times, compared to r_picmip 1. Also check your install with wiser2.exe.

Another possibility. I used to have Norton Antivirus 2003, and that program seriously slowed down loading times ingame. (50% faster loading times with Swat4 when autoprotect was off). I didn't test that Norton version with sof2, and i also dunno if things have changed in later NortonAV versions.

Norton will be Norton - Just say NO!

Its loading extremely slow through everything. When you first open Multiplayer SOF II it loads very slow before the menu that shows your name and the game options. Then it loads slowly when you try to connect to a server and then the map loads slow once youve connected; then once the map is loaded, but before im actually in the game I get disconnected from the server.

How It usually works: It takes a second or two to load and it flashes something like "Loading..." and then "Awaiting Gamestate..." and then the progress bar (that looks like a gun clip being loaded; very RavenSoft!) loads and the screen says what map it will be and whos server your connecting to and I get into the game and it runs smooth.

All of that is etremely slow now and on top of all this I can't connect to my favorite server. It says "Disconnected From Server." after it loads the map, everytime I try to connect to that server. I asked the adimn about that and she says Im not banned or anything.


My computer is just reformatted. I only have Windows XP Pro (and all the updates), latest video drivers, new firewall, antivirus and spyware, SOF II and Enemy Territory installed on it. That is all thats on my computer. No P2P software, no porn, no crazy exe files, no spyware, no viruses. I dont understand...the game ran perfect before i reformatted. Shouldnt it run perfect on a clean system, without all the old crap I had lol?

I checked the cfg file its set at "r_picmip 2". So that means it should load fast, correct? It used to load very fast, but now it does not. Something is very wrong lol.

Try a fresh re-install of SOF2.

Yeah, it was my realtime antivirus scanner. Has a snooze option, so it works out nicely now.

ive got the same prob with my sof2.
yeah this is an old machine but it runs great..
my other machine loads it fine, but this 1 recently started to load the servers really slow. The game load speed is fine, but when i click a server to join, im sat here about 2 minutes waiting for it to load.. it always seems to slow up when loading the maps. I've tried changing my firewall settings, av settings, router settings, changing ports, re-installed it countless times but still its slow.
Any ideas anyone?

kruxx, do you have a lot of custom pk3's downloaded? Try deleting some pk3's you don't use anyway.
