i didn't read your problem correctly. A sudden increase on loading time of maps could be the r_picmip value as i suggested to bigbol in the first place. So make sure the r_picmip value is NOT 0 in all your sof2mp.cfg's (especially in sof2\base\mp folder). r_picmip 1 is still good quality but a lot quicker loading times. r_picmip 4 for blurryness but awesome loading times

Looks like your having the exact same problem I did.
Chicanes advice about turning off your REAL TIME VIRUS SCANNER worked for me. Make sure you double-check that setting is off or "snoozed" in your AV settings before you run the game. If its not the AV and its not the r_picmip setting in your config file. Then maybe you have spyware slowing your computer down (dont you love hearing that!). If your up to it you could try reformatting your computer, reinstalling...blah blah blah...lol.

nah its not spywear.. i just recently did a total format of the PC. the picmip is set to 2, i dont run AV as i know everything that goes on and off this PC, also i havent yet found one thats actually ANY GOOD.. firewall wise i only use windows for it (for the same reason).. but still.. no joy. Its beginning to p*ss me off.
anyone got any other idea's??

by the way, im a self employed web designer.. so before any of you start having a fit because of me sayin i dont use AV and only windows firewall.. i know what im doing.. been using computers for the past 11 years lol

its a Radeon 9250 128meg Card, just upgraded it a few weeks ago from an old winfast 32meg card. Its buggin the #### out of me now mate, i dunno what else to do with it lol.

r_picmip 1 is about what it should be for auto detecting that ATi 9250 ..or picmip 2 ..not sure as it's been a long time since i had a radeon 9200 installed

it's free and works good with all my games and applications
very easy to configure and has automatic updates  almost daily

and ya mentioned  this was a fresh format .. have ya defragged the drive recently ..even on a fresh install after installing your drivers i usually defrag , after i turn off the BullS*** system restore

check to see if thats enabled too as yea that does rob performance ..and is basically  useless

i mean if your XP install goes awry you can always just pop your xp cd in and run system repair ..alot better then system restore does
