What's the English word for a woman who serves in the armed forces? A military woman? or a female military man?

I've come across words like "a female crossbowman" in Thief series for quite a few times.

Most of the words used to describe soldiers are non gender-biased anyway.  Like the ranks...

One exception might be the Marines where you'd have a 'corpsman.'  I don't know whether they say 'corpswoman.'  Google should be able to tell you.  Other than that, it's just 'Sgt. Smith' and that could be a woman or a man.

Yep.
I think the harder question, however, is what do you call the husband of a female president?  First Man?

Well, the male equievelent of Lady would be Gentleman, so I'll go for that.

Still sounds dumb.

Bingo :s10: Dumb or not. I heard the Question discussed on the news and that seems to be the right term "First man"
@Jenny Chen A soldier, if an officer then a military career woman.

Except if Hilary does make it into the White House *shudder* then we already all know he's not a gentleman.

If there is to be a democrat congress come 2008, I'd rather have someone like Guiliani in the White House. You need balance in the government to have less pork.
